Memoria South Oxfordshire Memorial Park & Crematorium

Memoria South Oxfordshire Memorial Park & Crematorium South Oxford Crematorium is set in beautiful surroundings and offers the most distinguished and professional of services.

Our Mission Statement

South Oxfordshire Crematorium and Memorial Park Limited has a mission to provide exceptional standards of service and facility to the bereaved families that use its crematoria and gardens of remembrance. This is because it is not only commercially sensible to do so but also because it is an essential act of human decency towards people who have just lost a much loved member of their family or friend. Bereavement is the price we must all pay for the joy of loving and being loved. The loss of a loved one is the most stressful, unhappy and traumatic experience that we will face in life. We at South Oxfordshire Memorial realise that we are unable to eradicate such pain but we also know it is our responsibility and duty to be as efficient, kind, respectful and polite as humanly possible to our clients at their time of grief, and thereafter when they return to remember their cherished relatives or friends. Therefore it is our aim to provide immaculately clean and tidy facilities in tranquil and beautiful surroundings attended by people who are sincerely dedicated to our mission, and who take a great pride in their work as a result.

As we reflect on the memories of those we’ve lost, especially during the festive season, it’s the warmth of their presence and the happiness they brought us that remains. Their spirit continues to shine through the moments we share with others, the traditions we uphold, and the memories we cherish.

If you need someone to talk to then help is available. Here is a list of a few UK charities who may be able to help, or signpost you to local support groups.

Last Wednesday, 10th December, we held our Christmas Remembrance Service, “Light a Candle for a Loved One.”

My team and I would like to sincerely thank everyone who took the time to join us. The evening was deeply moving—a time for quiet reflection, remembrance, and honouring loved ones who are no longer with us. Candles were lit in their memory, while our photo tribute played which created a truly special and meaningful atmosphere.

Our heartfelt thanks go to Rev. Alison Riches and Fiona Mac for leading the service, with Helen Crook, celebrant, for her valued contribution.

We were also grateful to share delicious cakes kindly supplied by Tearoom Bambi and Millets Farm, which helped bring comfort and warmth to the evening.

Our thanks also goes to funeral directors, Sean Smith from Peter Smith & Son & Chris Noone from Coop Cowley for their help serving refreshments at the end of the evening .

Thank you all for being part of such a touching and memorable occasion. 🕯️

The first Christmas without a loved one can often be the hardest. The grief can feel even more intense if their passing occurred just before what is typically a season of joy and celebration.

For many, finding comfort in memories of happier times can offer some solace. Whether it's watching their favourite films, listening to meaningful songs, reminiscing through old photos, or holding onto cherished belongings, these moments of connection help keep their spirit alive.

These small acts can bring a sense of closeness and peace amidst the pain.

How do you honour and remember your loved ones in the days leading up to Christmas?

This week marks National Grief Awareness Week, a time to recognise that grief touches every life and that no one should have to face loss alone.

At Memoria, we meet families at some of the hardest moments they will ever experience. We see first-hand that grief is deeply personal, different for everyone, and does not run to a timetable. There is no “right” or “wrong” way to grieve only your way.

If you or someone you know is struggling, support is available. This week, we are joining others across the UK to highlight the help that exists for anyone affected by loss. The Good Grief Trust provides a comprehensive directory of bereavement support services offering emotional, practical and specialist help.

By encouraging open conversations and sharing trusted resources, we hope to remind every grieving person that help, understanding and kindness are within reach.

As the nights grow darker, we often find ourselves looking up - remembering those we miss and feeling their presence in quiet, unexpected moments.

Whether through a memory, a song, or the soft glow of the evening sky, love continues to shine through.

This is a gentle reminder that those we love are never truly far away.

✨ “Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy.” ✨

Up and down the country, our sites have been carefully prepared to offer a fitting tribute to those who have fallen in conflict. 🌺

This Sunday, as people pause to reflect, we too remember the extraordinary bravery and sacrifice of so many - those who gave everything so that others could live in peace.

We will remember them.
🌹 Lest we forget.
