All Saints Sisters of the Poor

All Saints Sisters of the Poor We are a dispersed Anglican religious community of women. In Oxford, the Sisters pioneered several programmes. We are active in our local parish.

We have a house in West London and our Sister who is a priest lives in Chichester Diocese. We have an active ministry . In 1879, the All Saints Sisters of the Poor were invited to run St John’s, a hospital on a four acre site in Oxford, and we have been here ever since. The community consists of five sisters in life vows, one of whom is undertaking ordained ministry in London. These include Helen House and Douglas House (hospices for children and young adults), and also The Porch (support for the homeless and vulnerably housed). Within the grounds, St John’s Home now provides independent residential care for the elderly, while Helen House, the world’s first children’s hospice, welcomes children with life shortening conditions, with their families. Douglas House offers the same care for young adults. We provide the peace and enjoyment of the grounds and gardens for residents and families visiting St John’s Home and adjacent Helen and Douglas House Hospices. We offer hospitality to groups and individuals, including those who want an alongsider experience. Pastoral visiting, preaching, public speaking and spiritual direction are some of the ways we live out our calling.

It was good to be at All Saints, Margaret St this morning, 3rd Sunday in Lent. We had a very good sermon from Fr Peter Anthony on the Gospel today, ' the Samaritan woman at the well'.
The stations here are very prayer provoking and here is one of them.

Today we celebrate the Baptism of Jesus, a joyful Feast in this season of Christmastide. We have our tree up in the house, along with the cribs, celebrating the joy and light that God has given us in His Son.

Happy Feast of the Epiphany!
So many churches celebrating this Feast today.
This ' manifestation' to all people is such a joyous feast and with the lovely hymns that go with it.
The church is still 'wearing' her beautiful gold.
Thank you, Lord, for this gift at the beginning of this New Year.
