WHIM syndrome spontaneously 'cured' by a CXCR4 gain of function mutation. The white blood cells subsequently produced as progeny of the mutated cell were able to control the HPV virus that caused the warts - which spontaneously vanished.

Dr Anne Kiltie also told us about an exciting project called Reverse the Odds at this month's TRANSFuSION - a smartphone game involving crowd sourcing the analysis of immunohistochemistry slides for research to progress to the next level.

Dr Kiltie's slides are included in this project- and she was recently interviewed by BBC Radio Oxford about it.
