During his recent short stay at our home, we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Rico, one of our lovely hub residents, into our care. From the moment he arrived, Rico quickly became part of our community, sharing smiles, conversations, and special moments with both residents and staff 😊

Who made Rico’s stay so memorable was our dedicated team, who were always there to offer support, kindness, and a friendly face whenever he needed it. What Rico experienced was not just care, but genuine warmth and companionship, as he joined in with daily life and felt truly at home 💫

While he was with us, Rico embraced every opportunity to get involved, taking part in exercise classes, enjoying music sessions, and having fun playing games with others. These moments brought joy, laughter, and a sense of connection, making his time here both active and uplifting 🎶

Why his visit means so much to us is reflected in the lovely review he left, sharing how much he enjoyed his stay and the care he received. We are so grateful to have been part of his journey, and Headington Care Home would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Rico it was a joy having you with us and you will always be warmly welcomed back 💜

Today, one of our lovely residents spent some special one-to-one time with a member of our caring team 💟In a quiet, calm moment filled with warmth and connection, they were gifted a beautiful artificial rose 🌹

The joy on their face said it all. Their eyes lit up, their smile grew, and for that moment, nothing else mattered. It wasn’t just a flower, it was a gesture of kindness, a reminder that they are seen, valued, and truly cared for

These little touches may seem small, but they carry so much meaning. They bring comfort, spark happiness, and create moments that stay in the heart long after the day is done ✨

💜 A Heartfelt Farewell to Laurie 🎉

Today was a very emotional day at The Headington Care Home as we said goodbye to our beloved Deputy Manager, Laurie, who is retiring after fourteen incredible years of dedicated service. Laurie has devoted her heart and soul to every part of her work, supporting residents and staff with kindness, patience, and unwavering care. Over the years she has made countless friends and created so many cherished memories that will stay with us forever 🌸💛💐

To celebrate Laurie’s amazing career, the home came together for a wonderful retirement party filled with laughter, love, and a few happy tears. Staff from every department joined in, bringing delicious food for everyone to share. The home presented Laurie with a special leaving gift, and many colleagues also brought thoughtful presents to show their appreciation. One of our night carers made Laurie a beautiful homemade cake, adding a personal and heartfelt touch to the celebration 🍰🎀🎉

This farewell was not just about saying goodbye. It was about honouring everything Laurie has achieved and the inspiration she has been to everyone around her. Her dedication, compassion, and kindness have left a lasting impression that will continue to guide Headington Care Home long after she has retired. Every smile, every act of care, and every moment of support she has given has made a difference in the lives of both residents and staff 🌟💜✨

We want to say a huge thank you to Laurie for all her hard work, her friendship, and the love she has shared over the years. She has truly earned every moment of her retirement and we hope it is filled with happiness, relaxation, and all the joy she deserves. Headington Care Home will miss her dearly, but we are so grateful for the time we have shared and the memories she leaves behind 🌸💐

February brought plenty of lovely moments across our homes but here’s a little hint at what we’ve been celebrating this month: 🧧🐉 | 🥞 | 🐶🐱 | 💗

From Valentine’s celebrations and pancake making for Shrove Tuesday, to learning about Chinese New Year and enjoying visits from some very special furry friends, it’s been another month full of smiles, creativity and time spent together.

Across our 46 homes, these everyday moments are what make each community so special. They’re made possible by the kindness, energy and dedication of our incredible teams, who work so hard to create meaningful experiences for residents 💜👏

A very special day here as our lovely resident Margaret celebrated her birthday surrounded by warmth, kindness and heartfelt moments 🎂💐❤️

Margaret’s face lit up as she opened a beautiful birthday card from her niece. She admired the pretty flowers on the front, saying how lovely they were, but the real surprise came when she discovered a handwritten letter tucked inside. As she read the thoughtful words, you could see just how much it meant to her. It was such a touching moment, filled with love and connection

Margaret also shared that she had received birthday cards from friends and neighbours, reminding her just how many people are thinking of her and holding her close in their hearts. Those small gestures made her feel truly special and remembered💌

Of course, no birthday is complete without cake! Our home prepared a delicious birthday cake, which Margaret happily shared with her fellow residents- turning her special day into a celebration for everyone. There were smiles, laughter and warm wishes all around as we gathered together to mark the occasion

It wasn’t just a birthday; it was a day full of love, memories and togetherness. We’re so glad we could help make Margaret’s day such a wonderful one💕✨

One of our lovely residents enjoyed a day trip out to the dentist, followed by a bus ride into Oxford city centre happy and energetic, enjoying lots of walking and browsing the shops. To top it all off, we had a drink and a bite to eat at Greggs ☕🥐 🚌✨

Our residents enjoyed a home visit from Connect Eyecare , where many had their eye tests and chose their new glasses 👓✨

In our home, we have a wellbeing and activities board that helps celebrate daily life and special moments 💙

The board is regularly updated with new photos of our residents taking part in a wide range of activities and events within the home. It is proudly displayed in a communal area where all visitors and family members can see it, helping them stay connected with the happy moments and memories being made.

It is a lovely way to showcase involvement, wellbeing, and the vibrant life within our home.
