In celebration of London Fashion week and the Marie Antionette style exhibition residents at Tandridge Heights were treated to a live make - along by Holly from the V&A learning team and designer artist Rafin Jannat.

Residents learnt about the stunning dessert inspired fashion designs and Marie Antionette’s favourite deserts, inspiring them to create their own sweet still life art using water colour paints.

We had a really lovely creative afternoon enjoying some delicious deserts of our own

Residents from Tandridge Heights enjoyed a lovely trip out to The Peacock Pub for lunch this week

Gary decided to try the Railway Lamb Curry and declared it the best curry he has ever had – high praise indeed! 🌶️👏

Tandridge Heights is delighted to be welcoming the talented dancers from Keady School of Dance for a special St. Patricks Day performance on Monday 16th March

Our residents are looking forward to enjoying some fantastic Irish dancing, lively music, and plenty of St. Paddy's Day spirit! Its sure to be a joyful afternoon filled with smiles, rhythm, and celebration.

A big thank you to the amazing dancers for bringing the magic of Irish dance to our home - we cant wait!

🥂 Celebrating Molly's 106th Birthday ✨

Field House Care Home in recently celebrated Molly’s remarkable 106th birthday in style.

Molly marked the occasion with a glass of champagne while reading her birthday card from the King.

She spent the day surrounded by staff, family and friends, sharing fascinating stories from her life.

Molly says the key to a long and happy life is “To keep active and healthy!”

Our residents at Tandridge Heights had a wonderful wildlife experience this week when Wild About Britain came to visit the home 🦔🦉🐍

Residents were able to get up close and personal with some amazing animals, including toads, a smooth snake called Wren, a hedgehog named Buttercup, and a beautiful tawny owl called Freddie.

There were plenty of smiles as residents had the opportunity to pet, hold and learn about these incredible creatures. For many, it was a chance to reconnect with nature and enjoy a truly unique and memorable afternoon.

A huge thank you to the team at Wild About Britain for bringing such a special experience to our home and creating so many joyful moments for our residents.

🥇 Castle Lodge Celebrates Outstanding CQC Rating 🥇

The team at Castle Lodge Independent Hospital in Sutton, are celebrating as they passed a recent Care Quality Commission inspection with an overall ‘Outstanding’ rating - the best possible rating.

The CQC report found that all staff knew their residents exceptionally well and were dedicated and driven to offering them the best possible care, supported them to maintain their independence and retain control of decision-making. The report praised the hospital for promoting a culture where people were truly respected, their dignity protected, where they were valued as individuals and empowered as partners in their own care.

A patient shared: “The staff are lovely and kind, they go out of their way to help me”.

To mark the occasion, our CEO, Dr Pete Calveley, visited Castle Lodge to congratulate everyone and award each member of staff a £500 voucher to celebrate their achievement.

We had such a wonderful afternoon taking our lovely residents out for lunch at Flower Farm 🌺

Everyone enjoyed a delicious meal made with fresh, homemade food. There were lots of smiles around the table and plenty of happy chatter as we relaxed together in the cosy café setting.

After lunch, we had a leisurely wander around the farm shop, admiring all the beautiful fresh produce on display. From vibrant seasonal vegetables to tempting sweet treats, there was so much to see (and smell!).

A special mention goes to our lovely resident Georgina, who treated herself to some delicious fudge — and we have to say, it looked too good to resist!

Days like these are so important, creating meaningful moments, encouraging independence, and enjoying the simple pleasures together. We’re already looking forward to our next outing! 💛

🍺 Cheers! Hilton Park Opens a Bar for Residents 🍹

Colleagues at Hilton Park Care Home in have come up with the genius idea of creating their own bar for their residents. What could possibly be better than a space within the home where residents can kick back, relax and enjoy a pint and a chat, exactly as if they were down at their local.

The concept for the bar came from the team who recognised the value of creating a pub-style space for residents who may not want to go out but who might still like to experience a pub setting. The team brought the idea to life, transforming the lounge into a warm and inviting space.

Staff and residents proudly celebrated the launch of the new Hilton Lounge Bar with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Residents’ Ambassadors John and Beverley and live music from vocalist, Luan.

Such a fantastic idea! 👏

The kitchen was filled with the delicious smell of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies this week as our wonderful residents enjoyed making gluten-free treats together.

Baking isn't just about creating something tasty - it's a powerful way to support wellbeing for those living with dementia. Familiar recipes can spark treasured memories, encourage conversation, and provide meaningful engagement. from measuring ingredients to mixing the dough, every step helps stimulate cognitive skills while promoting confidence and independence.

Most importantly, it brings smiles, laughter and that lovely sense of achievement when the warm cookies came out of the oven.

Activities like this remind us that sometimes the simplest moments - sharing stories over homemade cookies - are the most special.

⭐ Customer Satisfaction Awards Finalist ⭐

Our double award-winning Customer Experience team has been shortlisted for another national award - this time in the hotly-contested ‘Best Customer Satisfaction Strategy’ category in the 2026 UK Customer Satisfaction Awards.

Our annual ‘Tell Barchester’ survey collates feedback from residents and patients, and their loved ones. Every single piece of feedback given is considered and acted upon. Tell Barchester was entered into the awards alongside survey provider CustomerSure and the entry has successfully made the grade.

The winners will be revealed at an awards ceremony at the Hilton Park Lane hotel in March.

Residents from Tandridge Heights enjoyed a lovely outing to Four Elms Coffee Shop this week — and what a beautiful day it was! 🌼

Over cups of tea and freshly brewed coffee, there was plenty of chat, laughter, and catching up in the sunshine. It’s these simple moments — sharing stories, enjoying good company, and getting out into the community — that make days like this so special.

A big thank you to the wonderful team at Four Elms Coffee Shop for making everyone feel so welcome. We’re already looking forward to our next visit! 💛

🧩 Scrabble Club Fun at Tandridge Heights! 🧩

Our residents have been putting their vocabulary skills to the test at our much-loved Scrabble Club, and it’s always a wonderful afternoon filled with laughter, friendly competition, and plenty of brain-teasing fun!

From creative wordplay to impressive high-scoring tiles, everyone enjoys coming together to challenge their minds while socialising with friends. Activities like these are a fantastic way to keep minds active and spirits high — and there are always a few surprises on the scoreboard! 😊

We love seeing our residents supporting one another, sharing stories, and celebrating every winning word along the way.

Who knew learning and laughter could go hand in hand so perfectly? 🎲✨

⛰️ 15 Mile Hike for Charity 🏃

On February 28th, a team of eight colleagues from Chester Court Care Home in will be tackling a 15-mile hike to raise money for Barchester's Charitable Foundation.

The Foundation supports older people and other adults living with a disability or mental health problems by helping them to connect or re-connect with others in their local communities.

Laura Tindle is normally the General Manager at Chester Court, but on February 28th she will be donning her walking boots and leading her team using sheer grit and determination on a 15-mile hike from sister home Bedewell Grange Care Home - Barchester Healthcare in back to Chester Court in Bedlington, in order to raise funds for the Foundation.

No strangers to a charity challenge, the team at Chester Court has been training hard.

🏆 Tixover House Celebrates Outstanding CQC Rating 🏆

We’re excited to share that Tixover House Care Home in passed a recent Care Quality Commission inspection with an overall ‘Outstanding’ rating - the best possible rating.

The CQC report found that the care staff knew their residents well and were dedicated and driven to offering them the best possible care, going above and beyond to do so.

Residents were also very complimentary about life at the home: “This is like home from home for me. I am happy and comfortable here and there is nothing that could be done better for me. I have got everything I need.”

To mark the occasion, our CEO, Dr Pete Calveley, visited Tixover House to congratulate everyone and award each member of staff a £500 voucher to celebrate their achievement.

👏 Barchester’s Charitable Foundation: Record-breaking 25th Anniversary Year 👏

We’re thrilled to share that Barchester’s Charitable Foundation marked its 25th anniversary with a record-breaking £424,000 raised in 2025 – the highest in its history.

Thanks to the incredible support of colleagues, supporters and corporate partners, the funding helped 262 small community groups and charities, as well as 123 individuals.

The vast majority of grants for disabled and older individuals are for mobility aids such as mobility scooters, electric wheelchairs and specialist walkers, enabling people to get out and about in their local community and to take part in social activities. This type of help can be transformative to people’s day-to-day life and wellbeing, as well as giving back independence and freedom.

Grants to small community groups and local charities have been more varied, funding a broad range of activities, outings, transport, equipment and materials for older people and adults with disabilities and mental health challenges. The projects cover a very wide variety of social and educational activities such as arts and crafts, gardening, woodwork, exercise, yoga, music, sewing, theatre and dance.
