What’s the point?
This morning my pre-verbal, not yet walking, 16ms old was crying. She was getting frustrated, I was getting frustrated. I said ‘what’s wrong? Show me’, she signed food, took my hand, led me by walking holding my hands to the snack drawer. I opened it and gave her some choices, and she chose breadsticks, and took them and sat and ate them.
If I didn’t know about early communication, baby sign, offering choices, use of objects, following my child’s lead.. the frustration levels in both of us would have continued and escalated.
Often the biggest takeaway point from our classes is people feel more in tune with their babies, knowing how to communicate with them and read them, ultimately leading to a decrease in frustration.
