Understandably I’ve had a few messages and comments wondering what’s happening, I think I didn’t want to write it publicly as it made me too sad.
Unfortunately every grant that I applied for over the last few months was declined and as a new CIC we were grant reliant until we could develop further.
One of the reasons I set up Make Torbay was the isolation I had felt due to various life situations but this is also the reason I couldn’t commit to more sessions or working more hours therefore, making the CIC grant reliant.
All the regular attendees were notified and we really made the most of the last month, friendships have been formed and monthly meet ups arranged. Apologies to anyone that may have been missed if they hadn’t been for a while. So whilst I feel like I have failed by closing I find comfort that my original aims of reducing social isolation have actually been fulfilled.
Thank you to everyone that walked through the doors and to the social prescribers and community builders that sent people our way.
All stock is being donated to another local CIC where I will be volunteering a few hours a week bringing the emotional regulation that crafting brings to a new group of people.
So it’s a thank you but goodbye from Make Torbay 🧡
