It's amazing to look back through old photos and see GAC evolve to be what it is today and to see how many people we have positively impacted with our programmes 💃🏼

The mission is and has always been simple: help more people engage positively with exercise!

Now, it's all about helping more people build strength, confidence and longevity one session at a time 🏋️‍♂️

Big things are coming in 2026 to make an even bigger impact in our community!

Here’s something most people don’t realise…

Beginners actually see the fastest progress in the gym.

Yup.... Definitely not envious of all our members progressing every week 🙄😂

Your body adapts quickly.

You get stronger faster than you expect.

And things start to feel easier within weeks.

That early progress is what builds confidence.

You don’t need to wait until you’re ‘ready’ - your progress comes from starting 🌟

A lot of people ask what a session actually looks like here…

It’s not as scary as you might think 😅

Although sometimes my hair is a bit of a riot but it's all good 👀😂

We start with a simple warm-up (which is the exact same for every single class! So once you know it, you can settle into any class you come along too 😊)

Then move into basic strength work 💪

Everything is scaled to your level
And there’s always a coach there to guide you 🏋️‍♂️

No shouting.
No pressure.
Just support and progress

And a good laugh if nothing else 😂

I had the absolute privilege of competing alongside yesterday at the 💃🏼

It was absolutely horrendous in the best way and couldn't have asked for a better fitness race partner!

Good vibes all round 🎉

And you can't go wrong with our strategy... Go fast at the start... Fast in the middle and then finish fast 💪

And try to survive 😂

Did you know?!

As part of our weightlifting club membership, you also get access into Coach Catherine's Barre classes and Stretch classes 💃🏼

These are a great option to develop your posture, core strength and flexibility in a supportive, coach led space 💪

We have a variety of small group sessions outside of our weightlifting, so if you're looking to get moving in a low impact, purposeful way then this will be the option for you 👌

Quick reality check…

The reason most "diets" don’t work long term is because they’re too extreme.

Cutting everything out.
Training 6–7 days a week.
Trying to be perfect.

It works for a few weeks… then life happens.

The people who actually get results?

They do something they can stick to.

That’s why we keep things simple and realistic and focus on getting STRONG💃🏼

Build strength and you'll be surprised at the results in relation to your other goals 😊

If you struggle to stay consistent, you’re not alone.

Most people don’t fail because they don’t care… they just don’t have a routine that fits their life.

A few simple things that help:

Pick 2–3 days and treat them like appointments.

Don’t try to do too much too soon.

Train with other people when you can - I joke saying our weightlifting club is 90% social, 10% gym but I don't mind if people are with their pals and just happen to be working out 💪

And don’t aim for perfect, just aim for showing up!

That’s how most of our members build momentum 😊

All About Get Active Coaching CIC

Get Active Coaching was established in October 2019 as a sport and exercise business with one simple mission: help get more children and adults active through sport and physical activity. It was set up by me! My name is Martin, and I started this business as I love all things sport and exercise. I wanted to find a way that I could use my passion, experience and knowledge to benefit others.

I have been involved in sport all my life and reached a high level in my younger days in both rugby and football. I have been a Rugby Developmment Officer for Scottish Rugby, which is where I gained a huge amount about how to implement sport and exercise in the community. Except this time, its not just for rugby, it is for every sport you can think of. Since my time as a Rugby Development Officer, I have completed my BSC (Hons) in Sport, Fitness and Coaching, achieved numerous sport coaching qualifications, which has given me the foundation to start and build Get Active Coaching!

Now, back to business. Get Active Coaching has recently achieved a huge milestone: We are now a Community Interest Company! I have spent the last 6 months creating partnerships with local organisations to develop working relationships, business parnerships and even assemble a small coaching workforce to help me with my delivery. I can now begin to make a bigger impact in the community through sport and exercise and help people live a healthier lifestyle as a result.
