Aromatherapy Awareness Week Day 5: Headaches and migraines can really disrupt your day, from a dull ache to debilitating pain. Knowing your headache type helps you find relief, and aromatherapy offers a compassionate, natural path to comfort.

Understanding Your Headache:
• Tension Headaches: Often feel like a tight band, typically from stress, neck/shoulder tension, or screen time.
• Sinus Headaches: Characterised by pressure around eyes, forehead, and cheeks, usually due to inflamed sinuses from allergies or colds.

Essential oils offer natural cooling, anti-inflammatory, and pain-relieving properties. When inhaled or applied topically (always diluted!), their compounds calm nerves, reduce inflammation, and promote relaxation.

Key Essential Oils for Relief:
• Peppermint: Perfect for tension headaches. Its menthol provides a cooling sensation, easing muscle constriction and improving blood flow.
• Lavender | Chamomile: Universally calming. Reduces stress and anxiety, common triggers for both tension and migraine headaches.
• Eucalyptus: Contains 1,8-cineole, known for its anti-inflammatory and decongestant properties, helping to reduce pressure and soothe pain.
• Marjoram: A warming, powerful muscle relaxant. Excellent for releasing deep tension in the neck, shoulders, and head.

Simple, Caring Rituals for Relief:
1. Topical Application (Tension Headache): Dilute up to 2 drops of your chosen oil in a teaspoon of carrier oil (like Jojoba). Gently massage your temples, forehead, and the back of your neck.
2. Aromatic Compress (Sinus Headache): Add 1 drop of Peppermint and 2 drops of Lavender to warm water. Soak a cloth, wring it out, and apply to your forehead and sinuses with gentle circular pressure.
3. Pulse Point Comfort: For on-the-go relief, create a pre-diluted rollerball. Apply to pulse points like wrists or along the hairline for soothing support.

Your Aromatic Allies for Profound Peace:
• Frankincense: Grounding and meditative, it slows breath, promotes introspection, and connects you to ancient wisdom.
• Sandalwood: Calming and sacred, it fosters mental clarity, reduces anxiety, and deepens meditative states.
• Myrrh: Resinous and ancient, it purifies, promotes spiritual insight, and aids in emotional healing and release.
