Today we're thinking of all those who have lost a father, as well as those fathers who have faced bereavement or loss themselves.

Out of respect we will not be advertising on social media today, but as always, we are here for you should you need us.

When you request The Funeral Market's direct cremation services through our website or by phone, we gather the most pressing information we need to bring your loved one into our care.

This typically includes the name of your loved one, address of their current location, your name, your relationship to your loved one and your phone number. If family is present when our team arrives to bring your loved one into our care, we will verify the information already received, confirm next-of-kin and a few additional details, as well as any special requests.

You can contact The Funeral Market 24 hours a day, 365 days a year on 0800 689 1060, or by visiting our website: https://thefuneralmarket.com/funeral-packages/arrange-funeral

Our minds will let in what it can handle and if we could comprehend our loss all in one moment it would be extremely overwhelming. We process trauma, little by little, over time. So be patient with yourself if you're feeling nothing at all or you're a little foggy in the days immediately following a loss.

Here's a quick guide to show respect during this difficult time:

- Dress modestly. Darker colors are common.
- Offer condolences. A simple expression of compassion goes a long way.
- Practice active listening. Let the family share their grief.
- Respectful behaviour. Avoid loud conversations or intrusive questions.
- Offer help. Ask if there's anything you can do during this time.

Children are curious and their innocence makes talking about death a difficult task. Here are some key points to remember:

Use clear, age-appropriate language like "died" or "passed away." This helps them understand what happened.

Kids may ask "why?" or "what happens now?" Be ready to answer honestly and simply. You can even prepare answers beforehand.

Adapt your explanations based on their age. Young children may need basic information, while older ones may need more details.

Let them see your emotions. Bottling up your grief can make them think it's wrong to feel sad.

It's normal to need help yourself. Don't hesitate to reach out to a trusted friend, therapist, or grief support group.
