We are incredibly lucky and proud to have local author John E Lawrence as a friend and supporter and he kindly wrote another poem for us, after attending our Memorial Tree event.
Wagstaff’s Memorial Tree
In Wagstaff’s chapel, calm and bright, Relatives place candles, with a match they light, A Christmas glow, both bright and true, For those departed, it’s just for you.
A silent prayer, a candle’s flame, Each life recalled, each cherished name. Though gone from sight, they linger near, In hearts and hopes, this time of year.
A tree adorned with tender care, Held notes of love from those who dare To tag a thought, a name, a year, A whispered wish for one held dear.
So may the chapel’s open door Remind us all, forevermore, That love lives on, though time may flee, In song, in light, and memory.
To Hanna, Nicola, Shenna, and the team A time for reflection, to those who’ve been. Their care, so gentle, kind, and true. Towards all who visit, like me and you.
