The masters are not ordinary people. They come with a power in their hearts, and they take us because we are already written on their list.
Every soul is entrusted to the care of a master. Whoever is ready will hear, within their own heart, the echo of that call and will begin to walk toward him, toward home.
Once you have taken the hand of the Shaykh, from that moment on, he takes care of you. Whoever is not ready may sit and be like Pontius Pilate before Jesus, spending an entire night in his presence without truly seeing, without understanding.
We each have a heart that speaks to us, and according to what it says, we move.
We do not know where that movement will lead us. There are no guarantees. But if we do not risk, we will never find out.
How do we recognise the Beloved among all the inhabitants of the Earth? It simply happens, and when it does, we know. It is always the same.
In the tradition, we say: “If you truly want to reach the Truth, even a donkey can be your master, and you will reach the destination.”
But if you do not truly want to reach the Truth, then even the greatest Shaykh on Earth cannot help you.
An authentic Shaykh can help you move faster along the way. In the end, it depends on you, on the strength and sincerity of your intention.

Allah invites us to pray because this is our service. To get closer to the King, you must serve him. When it comes the time for prayer, the dervishes align up in serried ranks, shoulder to shoulder, side by side. The prayer grants the peace to be together, to be part of the same body that moves in one same movement, culminating in prostration. Bowing with others brings reconciliation. Prayer allows us to enter into intimacy with our true nature. It makes us human.

True worth is in being, not seeming,—
In doing, each day that goes by,
Some little good—not in dreaming
Of great things to do by and by.
For whatever men say in their blindness,
And spite of the fancies of youth,
There’s nothing so kingly as kindness,
And nothing so royal as truth.

After many days of travel, Buddha arrived at a small town to give a speech. Everyone was happy to see him, except one young man.
While Buddha spoke, the man was shouting at him. Buddha did not pay attention and continued speaking. This infuriated the man even more. He walked directly in front of Buddha and continued to ridicule him. “You have no right to teach others. You’re stupid and you’re a fake!”
The crowd began to react to this young man’s caustic behaviour. Buddha stopped the crowd from turning against him and said, “It is not always necessary to counter aggression by aggression.”
Instead, he turned to the man and asked, “If you buy a gift for someone and that person does not take it, to whom does the gift belong?”
The young man was surprised by the question, thought for a moment and answered, “It would belong to me because I bought the gift.”
The Buddha said, “Correct. It’s the same with your anger. If you become angry with me and I don’t feel insulted nor accept your hostility, the anger falls back on you, as it was initially yours to give. You are then the only one who becomes unhappy, not me. All you’ve done is hurt yourself.”
The man contemplated the Buddha’s words. He realised that his anger was like a poison that he was consuming himself. It was not harming the Buddha, but it was destroying him from within. Overwhelmed by remorse, the man fell to his knees and apologised for his outburst. He asked the Buddha for guidance on how to overcome his anger. The Buddha taught him a simple meditation technique. He instructed the man to focus on his breath and to repeat the mantra, ‘I am angry, but I will not let my anger control me.’
With regular practice, the man began to notice a change within himself. His anger gradually subsided, and he became more peaceful and compassionate.
