Hello and welcome to Caroline Spence Yoga. I'm a certified Hatha Raja Yoga teacher offering Yoga Foundations, Gentle Foundations, Pregnancy and Mum and Baby Yoga classes throughout the Scottish Borders. These classes are dynamic and rooted in classical Yoga system exploring postures that will help release tension, encourage more breath awareness and seek to instil as sense of lightness and ease in students. Sequences are designed to suit the energy and level of each class. Options of modifications are also given to suit both new students and more experienced. Each class always finishes with relaxation. Gentle Foundations:
These beginner classes are for those embarking on their Yoga journey and focus on building a basic knowledge of the Yoga postures while improving body awareness and breathe control. Each week new postures are introduced to help strengthen the body, increase mobility and open the mind. Pregnancy Yoga:
These nurturing classes offer a sanctuary for mums to connect with their growing babies. We explore postures, breathing techniques, positions for labour and relaxation techniques. Troublesome ailments such as lower backache will be addressed. These classes enable release of tension, increase strength stamina and flexibility, whilst also helping deal with stress and anxiety. These classes also draw from my own personal experiences of the benefits of pregnancy yoga. Mum and Baby Yoga
An opportunity to share the gift of Yoga with your baby ! Specially designed classes to aid postnatal recovery, bonding with baby and exploring yoga postures beneficial for both mum and baby. My personal yoga journey...

I came into Yoga back in 2007, when my Physio at the time suggested that I try yoga to increase my flexibility to help relieve pain which I was experiencing in my knees, this was at a time when I was covering a lot of running miles. Having always been a keen athlete and fitness instructor in a previous life, who searched for ways of keeping strong and healthy, I was happy to try a different kind of activity. I was soon blown away by the combination of physical dynamic movement, breath and meditative practice I experienced and never looked back. I quickly realized the profundity of the Yogic path. Slowly I started to integrate yoga into my daily life and was amazed at how much impact it had not only with the relationship with myself, but also during difficult transitions in life. Giving me strength and calm through highs and lows. My passion for Yoga flourished following the birth of my first daughter in 2010 and was inspired to share this passion with others. And in 2014/15, I embarked on my teacher training course with Classical Yoga School Scotland, which gave me a deeper understanding of tradition and philosophy of Yoga. Yoga became a greater presence in my life on and off the mat. Inspired by various Yoga teachers along the way, In 2016, I trained with British Wheel of Yoga (Judy Cameron, a long time yoga teacher and a midwife) to teach Pre and Postnatal Yoga and also achieved a Diploma from Birthlight to deliver Baby Yoga classes. In 2018 Jan, I once again trained with Judy Cameron enable me to deliver Birth Preparation Workshops. I strongly believe in giving my students tools that will enable them to meet their needs and requirements, working from the ground up and establishing a strong foundation. I do this by offering group classes, private classes, 1:1 and 2:1 private lessons. I also believe that classes should be accessible for all and so also offer concession rates for students and those on a low income.
