Our monthly collective worship with Pastor Rob James was extra special this month with the addition of Pastor Sang Bo bringing members of his congregation from Korea to visit us! Another beautiful afternoon over at Stackpole Walled Gardens with another intrepid group of Ashdale ramblers! Alan and Eileen enjoyed a potter round the orchard where one of the volunteer gardeners treated them to a tasting blackcurrants and raspberries, while the rest of us enjoyed smelling the Jasmine and lavender before we all got together to tuck into tea and scones. Thanks for having us!

Meet Tesni – The Face Behind the Fun at Ashdale Care Home!

We’re absolutely delighted to introduce Tesni, our brilliant Activities Coordinator who has been part of the Ashdale family for almost two years. In that time, she’s become the heart and soul of everything activity-related 🎨🧁🎶 from creative sessions and community outings to themed days and unforgettable celebrations.

With her infectious energy, kind heart and unwavering dedication, Tesni goes above and beyond to ensure our residents are engaged, entertained and truly cared for 🌟💚 Ashdale simply wouldn’t be the same without her.

We’ve had some lovely outings this week to our favourite pub the Royal George Pembroke and an afternoon out taking in the sea air and swapping stories over drinks and treats at the incredible Wavecrest by West Angle Bay. The views out over as far as the preselli’s from the bus were spectacular and we enjoyed watching the ferry go by on its way to Ireland too. The hot chocolate’s however, were the stars of the show!

A lovely afternoon celebrating the start of Wimbledon and a certain someone’s 90th birthday! What better way than with homemade scones, fresh whipped cream and delicious strawberries straight from local grocers Wisebuys Country Stores 😋
we enjoyed the quiz and will look forward to seeing who comes out on top of the Wimbledon sweepstakes but the highlight was definitely Emma’s scones.

Our new lounge is almost complete 🎉 We are now just waiting for the delivery of furniture and blinds.

The space is looking absolutely lovely and what a transformation. Fantastic job Alan and Neil 👏
‘The Willows’ is really starting to take shape.

Alongside the refurbishment of the lounge, we have also created a secure garden area 🌿

As many people living with dementia can experience periods of increased movement, we wanted to offer more than just a corridor. This spacious outdoor area provides the perfect environment for people to walk freely and safely 🚶‍♂️🌼

There are many more exciting developments coming to ‘The Willows’ and we will be sure to keep you posted ✨

Our Summer Solstice party in the garden this afternoon couldn’t have wished for better weather! We learnt about the history of belly dance with the wonderful Dancing Moth Melanie and then were treated to a singalong of joyful summer hits from the 50’s- 70’s with Caryl from Kilgetty. We needed plenty of cold drinks and ice lollies but I think we’ve officially declared summer is here at Ashdale ☀️😎🍭

As promised some more lovely pictures from our dance with on Saturday! It was such a wonderful afternoon with tea, cake and the dancers who volunteered to come all taking time to talk with the residents, get them up dancing or hand jiving in their chairs. They even persuaded me to have a go (thankfully no one was injured by my left feet!). The atmosphere was incredible and residents started talking about their memories of going to dances and times they’d danced with someone special.
Thank you so much to all the wonderful people who came and particular thanks to Angie and Gerald who run the club.
If you want to have a go, you can join them at the Pater Hall in Pembroke Dock on a Thursday evening.
We’re already looking forward to seeing them again!
