Your nervous system has been running on overdrive. Here’s what happens when you give it a break 💧

Inside a float pod, you’re weightless in 1000 pounds of Epsom salts. No light, no sound, no gravity pulling at you.

Without constant sensory input, your body gets the signal that it’s safe to rest. Blood pressure lowers, and cortisol (your stress hormone) drops. You shift out of fight-or-flight and into your parasympathetic nervous system - the place where healing happens.

And the effects last for days after your float ☁️

You can’t think your way out of burnout 🧠 This Mental Health Awareness Week, it’s important to bridge the mind/body gap and give your nervous system what it needs 🫶

If you’ve been running on stress, anxiety, or burnout for months, your body isn’t going to reset by trying to think your way out of it, it needs something deeper.

Floatation therapy removes every external input. No light, sound, or gravity. Just you and complete weightlessness.

In that space, your nervous system finally feels safe enough to shift out of fight-or-flight and into deep rest. The kind of rest that lasts days, not hours.

We’ve thought of everything so you can think of nothing 🧘‍♀️

Here’s what we give you to make your float as comfortable as possible:

💧 Earplugs - keeps salt water out of your ears
💧 Vaseline - protects any cuts or dry skin from stinging
💧 A halo - supports your neck and head so you can fully let go
💧 Water bottle - for rinsing if salt gets near your eyes

A few things that help before you arrive:

• Avoid shaving 48 hours before (salt + fresh shave = sting)

• Skip big meals or caffeine beforehand (light snack is fine)

• Use the toilet before you float so nothing interrupts your nervous system reset

Your comfort is part of the experience. Come as you are 🩵

You’ll find us halfway down Cornerswell Road in Penarth. Parking right outside is limited to 1 hour, and since you’ll be with us for around 2 hours total, we recommend the free side streets nearby to avoid any penalties.

And what about you? 🔋 We spend a lot of our time making sure everything and everyone else is okay, it’s important to spend some time filling up your battery too.

Floatation therapy can be helpful in removing all stimuli and distractions, whilst floating in 1000lbs of Epsom salts. This helps the brain and body rest without gravity, distractions or sound, resulting in a calmed nervous system and recharged mind and body.

Whether this is your first time floating or a few sessions in, here are our floating tips for beginners 💧

1. Don’t force yourself to relax
You don’t need to force anything. Just lie back and let the water hold you. Relaxation happens naturally when your body feels safe and supported.

2. Let your head fully rest back in the water
If your neck feels tense at first, gently tuck your chin slightly down towards your chest, this usually helps you settle.

3. Try different arm positions to find what feels most comfortable
Some people prefer arms by their sides, others like a cactus position. There’s no “right” way, experiment and see what feels natural.

4. Expect your mind to wander at first
Especially during your first float. This is normal. Thoughts may feel louder at first because you’re finally still. Let them come and go without judgment.

5. Focus on your breath to calm any initial anxiety
We love the box breathing method for this. Breathe in for 4, hold for 4, exhale for 4, hold for 4 and repeat.

Let us know if any other methods help you! 🫶

On the surface, they might seem similar. But floating in our pods is a completely different experience for your body and nervous system. This is why 👇

💧 Weightlessness allows your muscles to fully relax in a way gravity never permits.

💧 Half a tonne of Epsom salt creates buoyancy that reduces pressure on joints and muscles.

💧 Skin-temperature water (so precise you can’t feel where your body ends and water begins).

💧 Complete sensory quiet activates your parasympathetic nervous system.

💧 Helps decrease cortisol, allowing your body and mind to truly rest.

💧 Removes external distractions, creating a deeply meditative experience.

We do love a bath! But floating is something else entirely 🧠

Open pod or closed pod, what’s the difference?

Both options offer a deeply calming float experience. The choice is always yours. But if you’re curious about the full sensory experience, here’s what changes 👇

✨ Lid Closed
With the lid closed, light and sound are minimised. Creating a true sensory-reduced environment. Many people find this allows their mind to settle more fully and their body to soften into deeper relaxation.

It also keeps the space warm and cocoon-like, enhancing that supported, weightless feeling.

💧 Lid Open
Perfect if you’re new to floating or prefer a little more openness. You’ll still experience the buoyancy of the water and the physical comfort it provides.

You can always begin with the lid open and close it later if and when you feel ready.

There’s no “right” way to float, only what feels best for you.
But if you’re ready to switch off completely, closing the lid can take the experience to another level ☁️
