Welcome to Hillside Cabin!
This is what I've been working on for the past 6 months. I'm not a carpenter and I had little DIY experience before this project.
Before I started, the space was full of brambles and stingy nettles. I had a vision from the get go and for the first time ever, things seemed to just slot into place and what I envisioned went better than anticipated.
Hillside Cabin is more than just a cabin in the woods, it's a retreat, a wellness centre. It features ice baths and a steam room along with an area for exercise, meditation, yoga and deep breathing. It is tailored towards mental and physical health. Guests have described their experiences as tranquil, peaceful and a mental reset.
I will also be offering personal wellness sessions where I take guests through all of the above.
The cabin also features WIFI, a projector screen in the living room and bedroom, a pizza oven, table tennis table and access to swingball and a trampoline for the kids.
Despite the features that the cabin boasts, it is fully off grid and environmentally friendly. The cabin is powered by battery stations which are hooked up to solar panels in the field below.
There is hot water in the sinks and hot showers, ideal after the ice bath and steam room!
In addition to the pizza oven, there is also a gas grill in the kitchen with a toasting feature.
The lights are all rechargeable and there is also a mains lamp in the living room and bedroom which plugs straight into the power stations.
There are bio-ethanol fires which allows instant heat and are easier and cleaner than wood burners. There is also a gas fire which can be wheeled into any room.
The cabin has a 30 foot decking with seating areas overlooking the river, perfect for morning coffees. Bring your rods too!
