I am very much looking forward to recommencing my monthly events after having had August off. I have spent time transforming my home space and listening to Dr Joe Dispenza, a renowned author, speaker, researcher, neuro scientist who combines the fields of quantum physics, neuro science, brain chemistry, biology and genetics. I have been blown away from listening to people's stories of transformation, people who have had severe health challenges and overcame them through learning and using Dr Joes knowledge and techniques. People who have moved away from living in stress or survival mode and being totally focused on their external environment to living a life as a creator, creating their own life with their thoughts, emotions, beliefs.
To get what we really want in life; joy, love, enthusiasm, passion, a sense of well being we have to let go of energy we have held onto from our past, in doing so our energy starts to flow freely and we live more from a place of being heart centred, loving, generous, compassionate towards ourself and others. We become the change we want to see in the world.

Do you find it difficult to find time in your busy life to nourish yourself?
Do you dedicate some of your time to focus on your mental and emotional health?
Do you check in with yourself to ask what it is that you are needing and take steps to meet your needs?

We can get lost in our busyness, in our never ending 'to do lists', in putting other peoples needs before our own needs.
The Sound Journeys I create offer you a nurturing space to come home to yourself, a space where you can give yourself full permission to relax because nobody is needing anything from you. You can be present for yourself, your feelings, thoughts, dreams, the messages your body is sending to you through aches, pains, sensations. Each cell in your body receives a massage and when they begin to soften they can begin to let go of tension, emotion, old out dated patterns and be filled with more positive, loving, compassionate energy. At Heartful Chanting we often chant to the prominent deity in Hinduism, Lakshmi, the Goddess of prosperity, wealth and fortune.
The chant we use is Sam Garrett and Mollie Mendoza.
Mollie introduces the chant "bringing an awareness to the sense of lack which we often hold, instead infusing our hearts, our life, our whole being with, I am enough, I have enough, I do enough. So we sing for Lakshmi"
The first verse goes "I sing like the birds, I grow like the trees, I choose to live in love, I am joy, I am ease.!!
Amazing, high vibrational words to express for yourself! There is also a lot of energy with instruments and percussion which we play along with using percussion the I bring to the session.

What is a Sound Journey/Bath?
The 90 min. session begins with a short breathing or guided meditation to bring your awareness inwards.
This is a space where the practitioner uses different instruments to intentionally create different sound vibrations/frequencies and the receiver of the sound vibrations set's an intention to relax, soften, open and allow the immersive sounds to take them into their body, their inner sensations, emotions, memories.
The receiver has no expectations, and rests in a state of openness and allowing, often in a deep meditative state or altered state of consciousness.

Benefits of regular sound sessions are;
Enhanced emotional and physical wellbeing
Balanced nervous system
Lower levels of stress hormones eg. cortisol
Feeling of more ease, better able to cope with changes.
A deeper connection with yourself.

How to prepare for a sound journey;
Keep hydrated, before and after as sound waves move through water.
Come with an open mind

I would like to thank everyone who attended my chanting and sound journey sessions in 2024. It is a great pleasure for me to create these nurturing spaces with sound frequencies and voice for you to relax, recharge, re-connect deeply with yourself and nurture yourself which leads to an enhancement of your overall well being.
Feeling more energized, relaxed, optimistic, flexible, motivated leads you to making healthier choices for yourself, being better equipped to deal with life's challenges and being able to tap into your inner strength to keep you moving forward.

I wish you a bright, relaxing, peaceful and merry Yuletide!
Yule is a wonderful time to celebrate peace. The Winter Solstice reminds us that peace comes from darkness and stillness. Nature is calling us to be still, be present, simply be where you are and listen within, listen to nature, observe and feel the stillness of nature in the winter when all of life moves slowly. It is a great time to reflect and ponder 'how can I slow down and what benefits will that bring to me?' I know I feel calmer, more centred, happier and better able to cope with life when I move slower and bring more awareness to my body, breath, my tasks.
Nourish yourself with some stillness over the coming days!

Dr Masaru Emoto, a Japanese researcher and author of 'The hidden messages of water' carried out experiments on water. He exposed water to various words, thoughts, emotions then observed the changes in the waters molecular structure. The crystals that formed after being subjected to positive words and intentions like 'love' and 'gratitude' were visually stunning, larger in size and appeared more harmonious and balanced.
This is an important discovery because our bodies are made up of 60% water. This means that the sounds we are exposed to, the words we use, our thoughts and intentions may impact our own cellular health.
Sounds created with intention during a sound journey or chanting session are contributing to our feelings of being in balance, living harmoniously with ease and flow.

I would like to share with you my felted drum be**ers that I create from sheep wool that I have collected in the Lakes or on holiday in Shetland. I use found sticks that I sand and oil. I love to work with wood and wool so this is a great combination. I was inspired by a friend to add a heart motif to them as it fits with the intention of my work with energy and sound, to soften and open our hearts to more love, connection, compassion and other heart based qualities. Felted drum be**ers create a softer warmer sound, great for meditation, healing work and not disturbing neighbours. I also use rabbit fur sourced from the UK to create an even softer sound.
I have created a drum be**er with a rattle on the end to add extra percussive sound.

Do you create space in your life, in your day for you to slow down, do nothing and come to a place of calm stillness?
Most of the difficulties people struggle with whether physically, mentally or emotionally are tension based. The tension we hold in our body and mind restricts the flow of energy within us which gives rise to discomfort and dis-ease.
Eileen Mckusick author of Tuning The Human Biofield, states that "sound has the power to move us"
Sound meditation is an easy, accessible practice to help relax places where we are holding tension, to open up space within us to allow our energy to flow freely and to bring us to a place of stillness so we can hear our quiet inner nudges, guidance and wisdom.
In sound meditation we can focus our attention on sound as a formal meditation practice or as short pauses throughout our day when we pause to listen to a specific sound. We are surrounded by sounds, choose a sound that resonates with you.
Nature sounds - wind, rain, water, birds, insects
Your voice using toning, mantra, singing,
Instruments, drum, rattle, bowls, chimes, bells etc.
your favourite music,
sound meditation music.
Be aware of how your body and mind responds to the sounds, notice any feelings, sensations, emotions, memories arising, allowing them space and resisting the need to judge them or change anything.

Stress effects everyone differently and it is a normal response to the body's 'fight or flight' response.
Sustained stress has become an all-too-familiar companion for many of us leading to a range of health problems.
Due to our work pressures and our personal responsibilities we can easily feel overwhelmed and in need of self care and effective stress management strategies.
People can aim to better manage stress by,
Prioritizing self care
Establishing healthy boundaries
Practicing relaxation techniques, mindfulness
Seeking support through a family member, friend, therapist
Sound therapy, sound baths, mantra offers an holistic approach to stress reduction. Their goal is to produce a frequency, a vibration to induce a state of relaxation. When our body and mind are relaxed the body's self healing abilities are activated taking us to a place of balance and well being.
