Devoted husband and best friend of Sam, proud dad of Jay and Taylor, father-in-law of Gabrielle and Elisha, much loved son of Roz and Doug, dear brother of the late Janet, loved brother-in-law, uncle, friend and colleague who meant so much to so many. Walkers Family Funeral Directors 80th Anniversary.

This month marks a significant milestone for Walkers Family Funeral Directors as we celebrate our 80th anniversary. Founded in 1945 by Reg and Dorothy Walker, our family business began its journey in Corney Square, Penrith. Initially, we operated a taxi service and supplied hearses, funeral cars, coffins, and bearers to village undertakers in the area.

In the 1980s, we transitioned to focus exclusively on funeral services, relocating to Tynefield House in Penrith. Peter and Eileen Messenger transformed the once dilapidated Georgian House into a beautiful family home and an ideal setting for our family funeral business. Currently in our third generation, we have expanded by opening a second funeral home in Appleby, enabling us to support even more families in the region.

Over the past 80 years, many aspects of funeral planning and arrangement have evolved, but our unwavering commitment to providing professional, friendly, and compassionate service has remained constant. We understand that saying goodbye to a loved one is one of life's most challenging moments, and we strive to offer the support and care needed during such times.

With over eight decades of experience and a dedicated team, we are honoured to have served generations of local families and to have earned a reputation for excellence.
