PenrithPhysioPilates Alexis Dykes: APPI Pilates Instructor
1 hour Pilates classes
Bampton on Mondays - 6.30pm and 7.30pm I qualified as a physiotherapist in 2009.

I have worked in the NHS as a specialist musculoskeletal physiotherapist, but now work at the Fire Fighters Charity in Eamont Bridge. I developed a specialist interest in Pilates having found great benefit from it for myself. I trained under the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI), with whom I qualified as a certified APPI Pilates Instructor in 2013. I have since been running classes in Bampton and Penrith. Having specialist physiotherapist knowledge enables me to help direct my classes to meet client's needs, as well as offering advice during the classes. I like to continually develop my skills so that no two of my classes are ever the same and they are always evolving. Recent courses include the annual Pilates Conferences, a fascial conference and a functional movement analysis course. Myself, I love anything outdoors and to travel. My main loves are bikes, the fells and the lakes. I understand the need for being active and regaining activity following injury.

I was not ‘of good voice’ tonight, so I sadly cancelled Pilates and instead I went out and, just like Pilates, appreciated the small things. Raindrops, cuckoos, woodpeckers.... and for good measure I saved a lamb!

Inspired by one of my Pilates clients tonight, I donned my warm coat and hat (mid May I tell you) and set off for a most enjoyable post Pilates walk. A good way to blow off the digital cobwebs!

What a cracking morning with our online Pilates Marathon fundraiser for

Thank you so much to all that have donated. I am delighted to say that in less than a week we have come together to raise £1802 so far which is fantastic, and helps to continue to pay for nurses and therapists to help people in their homes with their end of life care.

I couldn’t be happier and I am still on a high - thank you to everyone that joined it. You made it happen.

Keep moving everyone

What a way to spend a horrid wet and windy day - 18 of us went up High Pike for our Wainwright to do Pilates. This was part of a much bigger day with a message about sustainable living.
We managed a little Pilates in a small weather window, with our environmental pledges completed within a storm shelter on the summit!!
Thanks to all that joined me, and to Amy Bray who is the inspiration behind this day.
Let’s hope it makes a small difference.
