Choose your running shoes wisely....

Initial beliefs were - the more cushioned the shoe the less impact on our bodies/joints. However a recent study has shown that high cushioned shoes increase leg stiffness and amplify impact loading.....

Food for thought when choosing your shoes for the New Year.

Full study https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-018-35980-6?fbclid=IwAR1e2ff5l4EsQe3GXcd6pU_M05S5BiY0CS7N1XCYJTjfs1AlpeWGre9JxbQ

New study found that running in highly cushioned shoes increases leg stiffness and amplifies impact loading.

This is probably why cushioning does not protect against impact-related injuries. Very interesting study. We will add it below in the comment section.

We will be reviewing this study in our February issue. Learn more here: https://physio-network-pn.com/
