Our latest feedback from a lovely family staying with us this week, enjoying a pre-Christmas get together 🎄

Opening our guestbook and reading your feedback is my favourite part of a changeover day.

We love hearing how you have enjoyed your stay, the places you have visited and knowing you have used Rose Cottage for exactly what it was made for- quality time with family and friends in the beautiful Lake District.

If you have never heard the Miles Without Stiles initiative it is a great website which rates local walks throughout Cumbria based on their level of accessibility. We have some fantastic accessible trails here in the Lake District and several just minutes from Rose Cottage. Perfect for connecting with nature with family and friends.

Rangers recently took part in an awareness session where they learnt more about the needs of mobility scooter users.

They took part by using various mobility scooters and aids, helping provide greater understanding of the importance of the Miles without Stiles routes which rangers maintain across the Lake District.

We are over the moon at the announcement of the new Tramper hire at Lowther Castle and Gardens provided by Outdoor Mobility.

If you have stayed with us at Rose Cottage you will know that Lowther is not only our nearest accessible attraction, but is also our top recommendation during your visit (and a firm family favourite of ours to 😊). A tramper at Lowther is something we have been longing for.

Get yourselves booked on and enjoy the river trail, you won’t regret it!

Free Guided Tramper sessions available on the 23rd October at Lowther Castle and Gardens. We are celebrating the launch of the new Lowther Tramper (Off-road Mobility Scooter)!

These sessions are aimed at anyone who has reduced mobility who wants to get out into the countryside. So, if you have never used a Tramper before or you are a seasoned user, theses sessions will be great fun. All the training in how to use the Tramper will be provided. You will then get to know more about the wonderful flora and fauna of the area on a 1 hour trip down to the beautiful River Lowther and back, followed by a free coffee and cake at the café. Parking is also included.

There are a limited number of sessions so booking early is recommended. Booking is online at www.outdoormobility.org/lowther-castle. If you are not already a member of Outdoor Mobility you will need to take out a single use membership, this can be done for free using the voucher code LowtherLaunch.

Fabulous service and a friendly face from the maintenance teams as always. Same time next year?!

Now to get the cottage cleaned and the log pile stocked for a cosy weekend in the lakes for our next visitors 🪵

📣 it’s here, it’s finally here 📣

That’s right, our brand new Repose Madison Porter Chair has arrived. We are so excited!

Thanks to HWB Mobility who have been fabulous at discussing all the options and helping us choose the most versatile rise and recline chair for our guests.

Beautifully modelled by Asha, our current guest, who is the first to test this fab rise and recline chair. And what’s her review I hear you ask, well, Asha said ‘I love the chair, it has been just as comfy as the one she has at home’.

Perfectly fitting review to our ultimate aim, to create a home away for home for our guests.

We hope our next visitors, Steve and his family, feel just as at home this week 😊

We are so excited to finally have a rise and recline chair heading to Rose Cottage 🛋️ it’s been on our wish list since we started our build in 2023.

HWB Mobility have been amazing at helping us navigate the choices and pick the most versitile for our guests. Thank you for all your help Andrew😊

♿️ Helping accessible holiday home owners to attract more people by supplying them with the right disability equipment is a real passion of ours so we were thrilled when Katy from Lakes For All got in touch about a specialist chair.

🗣 Following some long chats about what the chair was needed for, what equipment it needed to be compatible with, fabrics, pressure relief, etc etc, the chair that was decided upon was the Madison by Repose; the 🇨🇭 Swiss army knife of specialist chairs. Not only is it a porter chair, capable of moving people around in total comfort, it is also a dual tilt-in-space riser recliner chair with a 20 stone weight capacity. This particular one is also having a wireless battery pack fitted so the rise and recline functions can be operated away from a power source.

😁The chair goes into production this week and delivery will be soon after so make sure you are following Lakes for All on here for updates!

🐾🐶 Keswick Scruffs 🐶🐾

We had a wonderful morning visiting Keswick Scruffs today. Certainly one for your diary if you are a dog lover thinking of staying with us in June.

This lovely community dog show take place annually in Fitz Park- a beautiful park with an accessible pathway around the outside, a great play park for little visitors, and a fab social enterprise cafe . With the River Greta flowing through the park and views of the surrounding hills it’s lovely place to visit at any time (we like to enjoy a chippy tea in the park in the summer) but Scruffs makes it all the more inviting.

Our children were in heaven today with so many four legged friends to be made. We even found one of todays veteran pooches who had wheels of his own and two adorable German Shepards who looked very hot in todays ☀️

For visitors who are sensitive to noise we recommend bringing ear defenders as there is music playing at the event. We also recommend them on sunny days in Keswick in general as we often have fighter jets passing over.

A wonderful local event full of fun resulting in lots of questions about ‘can we get a dog?’ 🤭
