🌳 Mental Health Awareness Week - Take Action 🌳

As Mental Health Awareness Week draws to a close let’s not forget the overarching theme of ‘Take Action’

I took action yesterday and went for a little walk, I absolutely love walking, I get my steps in, get some fresh air and spend some time in nature.

Can anyone guess where I went??

🌳Mental Health Awareness Week: Take Action! 🌳

It’s so easy to overlook our own mental health, to think people are ok just because they say they are. Is it the friends that are quiet we need to check in on or the ones that always seem ok?

This week, we embrace the theme of Action for Mental Health Awareness Week, encouraging everyone to take proactive steps towards better mental well-being.

Mental health is just as vital as physical health, and taking action can lead to positive changes in our lives and communities.

The smallest actions often have the biggest impact, here’s my thoughts:

1. Start a Conversation: Reach out to friends or family members to catch up and have a chat. Sometimes, simply listening can make a huge difference.

2. Engage in Self-Care: Take time for yourself! Whether it’s reading a book, going for a walk, or hitting the gym, prioritise activities that make you feel good.

3. Volunteer: Many organisations need support. Volunteering not only helps others but also enhances your own well-being.

4. Share Resources: Use your social media to spread awareness about mental health resources and initiatives.

5. Join a Group: Participate in local community events or support groups to connect with others who share similar experiences and interests.

Let’s make an effort this week to take action for our mental health and support those around us. Together, we can create a more understanding and compassionate world 🌎 .

Colette ☺️.

What qualities should a carer have?
This week we attended the Year 8 Careers Fair at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School and asked students this simple question. Their responses were so thoughtful and well considered.
They chose words like kind, patient, reassuring, and empathetic, showing how well young people understand what really matters to people who receive care.
What qualities do you think are most important?

We know many of you are caring for a partner or family member at home, and sometimes a little bit of company goes a long way. This is such a lovely, relaxed way to meet others in a similar position and take a well-deserved breather.
It’s wonderful to see this open to all carers in Appleby—we truly hope you can make it along.

Do you care for a loved one?

This Thoughtful Tuesday 10-2pm is for all carers - it was initially for dementia carers but we are pleased to say it’s now available to all carers.

Get here when you can and leave when you need to. There will be refreshments, a light lunch, books to browse, games to play, crafts to try - this week crochet, embroidery & rag rugging.

Let us share the care & look after you, it’s fully funded so that means there’s no cost to you.♥️

Thoughtful Tuesday’s are part of our Connecting Appleby programme kindly funded by The National Lottery Community Fund

100% Compliance – A Team Effort!

We’re proud to share that we’ve achieved 100% compliance from Westmorland & Furness Council, following the same result with Cumberland last year.

A huge well done to our office team for the work that goes into preparing, organising and maintaining such high standards every day.

But this achievement doesn’t sit in the office alone. It reflects the dedication, consistency and compassion shown by our carers out in the community, delivering truly person-centred support.

Thank you to every single member of the team 💙

Happy Work Anniversary to our amazing Jacqueline Holder.

Today marks Jacqui’s 20 years with Eden Country Care.

Over the years Jacqui has shown so much care, compassion and empathy to so many people not to mention the grit and determination in many winter months trying to reach people who need her help and support.

Her service is highly commendable and a simple ‘thank you’ doesn’t seem enough.

Jacqui - thank you so very much for everything you have done over the years, we appreciate all your hard work more than words can ever say.

Here’s to 20 more!

Erica, Paul, Heather, Rich, Dan, Colette and all the ECC crew xx
