We can be such an obstacle in our own way sometimes. We tell ourselves we can't when really we can. We find reasons for not sticking to plan, when we know all the reasons why we should. So why do we stop ourselves from progressing? It's worth looking at our reasons for and against losing weight - we could just discover something, some fear about achieving our goal....

Reasons against losing weight:
I'll have to buy new clothes
I might get attention
People might treat me differently
My personality might change
Will I still be me?

Reasons for losing weight:
I'll be healthier
I'll feel good about myself
I can buy nice clothes in normal shops
I'll be fitter
My confidence will be improved
I might come off medication
I am likely to have less aches and pains
I will cut my risk of serious illnesses
I will be happy having my photo taken!

If you've been struggling, have a think about what your for and against list looks like. You may just be able to get out of your own way x
