🌿✨ As a local business, we love supporting other local businesses! ✨🌿

We recently had the pleasure of working with an amazing team of gardeners who went above and beyond to bring one of our client’s gardens back to life. The transformation has been incredible, creating a safe, welcoming, and beautiful space to enjoy. 🌸🌱

We’ve had nothing but fantastic feedback, and we couldn’t be happier with the results so far. A huge thank you to the team for their hard work and dedication – it truly makes a difference! 💚

🕊️ International Day Commemorating the Victims of Acts of Violence Based on Religion or Belief – 22 August

Today, we remember and honour all those who have suffered or lost their lives simply because of their religion or beliefs.

Freedom of religion or belief is a fundamental human right, protected by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It goes hand in hand with freedom of expression, peaceful assembly, and association — and is essential in building inclusive, respectful communities.

Yet around the world, violence, discrimination, and persecution based on faith or belief continue to rise. Places of worship, cultural sites, homes, and lives are being destroyed — and far too often, those responsible face no consequences.

This day is a reminder that:

Violence in the name of religion must stop.

No faith, nationality, or community should ever be linked with terrorism or hatred.

We must work together — through dialogue, education, and solidarity — to promote understanding and protect the rights of all people.

At Riverside Support Service Ltd, we stand against all forms of intolerance and discrimination. We stand for compassion, dignity, and unity — and we stand with the victims, their families, and communities everywhere.

🕊️ Let’s remember, let’s speak out, and let’s work towards a world where everyone is free to believe without fear.

🌍 Today is World Humanitarian Day

On 19 August 2003, a devastating bomb attack on the UN headquarters in Baghdad took the lives of 22 humanitarian aid workers, including Sergio Vieira de Mello, the UN’s Special Representative for Iraq. In their honour, the United Nations declared 19 August as World Humanitarian Day — a time to recognise the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of those who risk their lives to help others in crisis.

Each year, this day unites people and organisations across the globe to stand up for the survival, dignity, and safety of communities affected by war, disaster, and displacement — and for the protection of the humanitarian workers who serve them.

But the reality is stark: 2023 was the deadliest year on record for humanitarian workers — and 2024 could be worse. Despite international laws designed to protect civilians and aid workers, attacks continue, and those responsible often face no consequences.

This must change.
Humanitarian workers deserve protection. Civilians deserve safety. Communities deserve hope.

Today, Riverside Support Service Ltd joins the call to — to demand an end to violence against aid workers and to stand in solidarity with all those affected by crisis.

💜 Let’s honour their work, amplify their voices, and keep fighting for a safer, more compassionate world.

🧠 Myth-Busting Mondays – Dementia Edition

There are so many misunderstandings about dementia — from who it affects to what it actually means for daily life. These myths can make it harder for people living with dementia to get the understanding, empathy, and support they deserve. Let’s clear some of them up 👇

❌ Myth: Dementia only affects older people.

✅ Reality: While dementia is more common in people over 65, it can also affect younger adults — and in rare cases, even children. This is called young onset dementia. Age alone isn’t the deciding factor.

❌ Myth: If I’m forgetting things, I must have dementia.

✅ Reality: Occasional forgetfulness is often just a normal part of aging — or even stress, tiredness, or distraction. But if memory problems start to interfere with your daily life or independence, it’s important to speak to your GP or another qualified health professional.

❌ Myth: People with dementia don’t understand what’s happening around them.

✅ Reality: Every person’s dementia journey is unique. Some may have difficulty with certain types of communication or processing, but that doesn’t mean they’re unaware. Always speak with someone before making assumptions — and remember, dignity and respect are non-negotiable.

💜 You’re never alone in this journey. If you or someone you love is living with dementia and you’re unsure where to turn, we’re here to help. Call us for a friendly chat — we can offer support, a listening ear, and guide you towards the right services.

💜 Happy World Friendship Day 2025! 💜

Today, we celebrate the power of friendship – the connections that bring comfort, laughter, and joy into our lives. At Riverside Support Service, we see every day how meaningful friendships can truly transform someone’s wellbeing.

In home healthcare, friendship often blossoms in the most beautiful ways. The trust, kindness, and companionship between our support workers and the people they care for go beyond practical support – it creates genuine bonds that reduce loneliness, bring happiness, and build confidence.

Whether it’s sharing a cup of tea, enjoying a laugh, or simply being there to listen, these friendships make all the difference. They remind us that caring for someone is not just about meeting their needs, but about making sure they feel valued, seen, and never alone.

Here’s to all the incredible friendships – old, new, and those still to come – that make life brighter every single day. 🌟

Here at Riverside Support Service, we believe that care isn’t just about meeting daily needs – it’s about enriching lives, creating meaningful experiences, and helping people enjoy the things that truly make them happy.

One of our amazing clients recently went on a holiday and had the incredible opportunity to hand-feed a beautiful red panda! 🐼💚 The joy on his face says it all – moments like this bring so much happiness and remind us how important it is to support people in living life to the fullest.

Experiences like this show that homecare isn’t only about providing support at home. It’s also about encouraging independence, companionship, and opportunities to do the things that bring excitement, laughter, and wonderful memories.

We’re so proud to be part of these journeys, making sure that everyone we support feels empowered to enjoy life – whether it’s a quiet day at home or a special adventure like this one. 💙

There’s something truly magical about seeing the people we support light up with happiness. We had the pleasure of witnessing one of our wonderful clients having a little dance, with his support worker right by his side cheering him on.

Thank you Juliet 💜

It was a simple moment, but one filled with so much joy, pride, and connection.

This is what homecare is really about – not just supporting with daily tasks, but bringing companionship, encouragement, and positivity into someone’s life. For many, having a trusted support worker means they feel safe enough to be themselves, to have fun, and to embrace the things that make them happy.

Moments like these remind us that homecare isn’t just about maintaining independence; it’s about enhancing wellbeing, building confidence, and creating uplifting experiences that make life more meaningful.

A huge thank you to our amazing team for always going the extra mile – you’re not just providing care, you’re making a real difference in people’s lives every single day. 💜
