Due to the storm we are still having technical issues with our phone lines and emails. We are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause. All our clients have been well looked after by our incredible support team. For those still without electricity we have taken over hot water bottles and flasks of hot water. We will give an update later on today. Thank you for all your patience. The Riverside team 💜

💖 Love Is in the Air 💖

We have not one, but two very special congratulations to share!

Over the Christmas period, love was truly in the air as two of our wonderful team members got engaged. A huge congratulations to Sarah on her engagement, and to Anna on hers — such exciting and joyful news for them both.

We wish you each a lifetime filled with love, happiness, laughter, and beautiful memories as you begin this next chapter. It’s been a pleasure to celebrate these moments with you, and we can’t wait to see the wedding photos in the future 💍✨

Congratulations, Sarah and Anna! From all of us at Riverside 💕

🌈 Mental Mastery Reminder 🌈

Mental health isn’t always visible.
Some battles are carried quietly, behind smiles, routines, and “I’m fine” responses.

That’s why it matters how we show up for one another.

💜 Choose patience — because everyone moves at their own pace, and healing isn’t linear.
💜 Choose empathy — because understanding often begins with listening, not fixing.
💜Choose kindness — because even the smallest act can ease a heavy heart.

At Riverside Support, we see the person before the condition, the human before the struggle.
We believe compassion, consistency, and genuine care can make a powerful difference especially on the days when someone feels unseen.

Let’s keep creating spaces where people feel safe to be themselves, supported without judgement, and reminded that they are never alone.
Choose kindness. Always. 🫶💜

🌟 Caregiver Tip of the Week: Use Sensory Activities to Comfort Clients

💜 Why it Matters:
Sensory stimulation plays an important role in emotional regulation and wellbeing. Gentle sensory experiences can help reduce anxiety, soothe distress, lift mood, and trigger positive memories—particularly for clients living with dementia, sensory processing difficulties, or emotional overwhelm. When verbal reassurance is limited, sensory comfort can provide a powerful sense of safety and connection.

💜 Practical Guidance:

• Offer comforting textures: Use soft blankets, cushions, weighted items, or textured fabrics to promote relaxation and reassurance.

• Introduce familiar scents carefully: Light, familiar smells such as lavender, fresh linen, or a favourite soap can be calming and memory-evoking. Always check for sensitivities or allergies first.

• Engage multiple senses gently: Play calming music, nature sounds, or offer familiar objects to hold. Keep stimulation calm and avoid overwhelming the client.

• Observe and adapt: Watch body language, facial expressions, and verbal responses. What comforts one client may not suit another, so tailor activities to individual preferences.

💜 Reflection:
Take time to notice how sensory activities influence your client’s comfort, engagement, and emotional wellbeing. Small sensory moments like wrapping a client in a soft blanket or playing a familiar song can create calm, connection, and reassurance.

As we step into a new year, these words feel especially meaningful to us at Riverside.

Caring isn’t always easy — but it is always worth it. 💜

It’s the smile offered on a hard day, the kind word that brings comfort, the perseverance to keep showing up when things feel heavy.
It’s staying true to who you are, leading with an open heart, and leaving warmth behind wherever you go.

In 2026, we continue our commitment to supporting people with dignity, respect, and compassion guided by experience, intuition, and a genuine passion to make a difference in the lives of those we support and the communities we serve.

To our incredible team, our clients, families, thank you for being part of the Riverside journey.
Here’s to a year of courage, kindness, and care 💫

🌼 Self-Care Sunday: Choose Calm Over Chaos

💜When the week feels busy, choose moments of peace wherever you can.

💜Why it Matters:
Calm reduces stress, improves focus, and allows better emotional regulation, making caregiving more effective.

💜Practical Guidance:

Identify one slow, intentional activity each Sunday: lighting a candle, listening to music, or sipping tea.

Pause for a few deep breaths before responding to tasks or messages.

Reduce multitasking to focus on one thing at a time.

💜Reflection for the Week:
“Notice how these small pauses affect your stress levels and interactions with others.”

💜Extra Tip:
Combine calm moments with aromatherapy or soft music for added relaxation.

Mental health stigma doesn’t motivate people.
It isolates them.

It silences voices, feeds shame, and makes people feel they have to struggle alone — when in reality, no one should.

If this image hit close to home, please know this: you’re not alone.
Your feelings are valid.
Your struggles do not define your strength.
Reaching out is not a weakness it’s an act of courage.

Let’s keep challenging stigma with understanding, empathy, and open conversations.
The more we talk, the more we make space for healing, connection, and hope.

It’s okay to talk. It’s okay to ask for help. 💜

🎄💙 A heartfelt thank you to all healthcare workers this Christmas 💙🎄

We wanted to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to everyone who has worked throughout the Christmas period — not only our incredible Riverside team, but all care and support agencies, healthcare professionals, and the wider NHS.

While many were spending time with family and loved ones, you were out providing care, comfort, and reassurance to those who needed it most. Your dedication, compassion, and resilience do not go unnoticed. You show up in all weathers, during unsociable hours, and often behind the scenes, making a real difference to people’s lives every single day.

We are deeply grateful for everything you do. Thank you for your kindness, your commitment, and the care you give, especially at such a meaningful time of year. 💙✨

🌟 Caregiver Tip of the Week: Encourage Gratitude Practices

💜Why it Matters:
Taking time to reflect on positive moments no matter how small, can significantly boost mood, emotional resilience, and overall mental wellbeing.
For many clients, especially those experiencing stress, illness, or isolation, focusing on gratitude can gently shift attention away from worries and towards moments of comfort, connection, and joy.

💜 Practical Guidance:
• Create simple prompts: Invite clients to share one thing they’re grateful for each day, such as a kind conversation, a favourite meal, sunshine through the window, or a pleasant memory.
• Notice the small joys: Encourage recognition of everyday positives, warm drinks, music, laughter, or a peaceful moment.
• Adapt to the individual: Gratitude can be shared verbally, written down, drawn, or expressed through photos or memory prompts, depending on ability and preference.
• Model the practice: Share something you’re grateful for too—this can make the exercise feel natural and shared rather than forced.

💜Reflection:
Over the week, observe whether regular gratitude sharing lifts the client’s mood, encourages conversation, or increases engagement.

Even brief moments of appreciation can create a more positive and connected atmosphere.

🎄✨ Our Christmas Lunch Club went down a real treat! ✨🎄

The room was filled with shared memories, laughter, and so many smiles, exactly what this time of year is all about.
From festive food to heartfelt conversations, it was wonderful to see everyone coming together, enjoying each other’s company, and feeling part of something special.

Moments like these remind us how important connection and community are, especially at Christmas.

Thank you to everyone who came along, helped out, and made the day so joyful. It truly was a lovely celebration and one we’ll cherish. 💜

A special thank you to Ian Newman for always supporting us, Angie, Bev, Chelsea, Sarah and Keeley for bringing a client and taking the wonderful photos.

🌼 Self-Care Sunday: Let Yourself Feel Proud

💜Caring is emotionally and physically demanding — acknowledge your strength.

💜Why it Matters:
Recognition of your efforts reinforces confidence, reduces self-doubt, and sustains motivation.

💜Practical Guidance:

Take a moment to reflect on your weekly contributions.

Celebrate even small acts, like making a client laugh or completing a challenging task.

Share achievements with colleagues or a supportive friend.

💜Reflection for the Week:
“Notice how acknowledging your accomplishments impacts your self-esteem and energy.”

💜Extra Tip:
Consider a “victory jar” — jot successes on slips of paper to read at the end of the month.
