🕊️ International Day Commemorating the Victims of Acts of Violence Based on Religion or Belief – 22 August
Today, we remember and honour all those who have suffered or lost their lives simply because of their religion or beliefs.
Freedom of religion or belief is a fundamental human right, protected by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It goes hand in hand with freedom of expression, peaceful assembly, and association — and is essential in building inclusive, respectful communities.
Yet around the world, violence, discrimination, and persecution based on faith or belief continue to rise. Places of worship, cultural sites, homes, and lives are being destroyed — and far too often, those responsible face no consequences.
This day is a reminder that:
Violence in the name of religion must stop.
No faith, nationality, or community should ever be linked with terrorism or hatred.
We must work together — through dialogue, education, and solidarity — to promote understanding and protect the rights of all people.
At Riverside Support Service Ltd, we stand against all forms of intolerance and discrimination. We stand for compassion, dignity, and unity — and we stand with the victims, their families, and communities everywhere.
🕊️ Let’s remember, let’s speak out, and let’s work towards a world where everyone is free to believe without fear.
