Why do you need to go to university to cut toe nails ?

I get asked this a lot !

The answer is you don’t !!

But you do have to go to university to train as a podiatrist !
Today at work
I have treated / Diagnosed the following :
*Plantar fasciitis / issued insoles / exercise program
* removed a deep painful corn
*relived a painful ingrowing toe nail
*Debrided / dressed a foot ulcer
*completed a diabetic foot assessment and education session
* referred someone to GP to get a lesion checked because it looked cancerous and needed dermatology input.
*carried out multiple vascular assessments

And finally

Carried out nail surgery .

Podiatrist don’t just cut toe nails but we are pretty cool !

POLITE REMINDER about cancelling your appointments :

24 HOURS NOTICE is required or you will be charged for the appointment this is for clinic and home visits.

This is an example of why -
I have a waiting list for home visits so frustrating that I could have seen a new pt.

I arrived to a home visit today no one home - this means I have lost £40 out of my income today.

I ring the next couple to ask if it would be ok to attend at a slightly earlier time than planned to be told they wouldn’t be home - one was an assessment appointment £45 and the other a return £40

Total loss today £125

No one has paid the cancellation fee in-fact they hurled abuse at me for suggesting such thing

Sadly this is not an isolated occurrence

I’m a small business / one woman band.

I know people get unwell or life event occurs I’m human I have compassion but I am going to have to be stricter with my cancellation policy.

I hope you understand

Thank you to all the people who call / text / email / leave messages to reschedule appointments within a suitable time frame.

These feet attached to the most lovely person came in embarrassed and left skipping to the car more comfy and pleased with the transformation!
