Ratcliffe Therapeutic Counselling's mission:
To help people who, like forces, frontline personnel and first responders, have suffered trauma while putting others first. RTC was founded by Rachel Ratcliffe as a provider of specialised trauma counselling and everyday support across the UK. Rachel started her trauma work at Thames Valley Police where she was a Police Enquiry Centre Officer. As a civilian officer, she took calls from members of the public, agencies, other police forces, and other police personnel to report disturbances and crime, but her main role was answering and managing 999 calls and getting the relevant help to those in need. She worked a huge variety of cases, including but not limited to; neighbour disturbances and disputes, animal violence, missing people, domestic violence, assault, rape, burglary, armed robbery, murder, terrorism, and major crime incidents. Her father passed away when she was young and she nursed her mother through terminal cancer at 21 years old. After surviving her own battle with cancer, she is now dedicated to making meaning from her trauma, and providing a supportive environment to enable others to stabilise and grow. She lives with her husband and dog in sunny Cornwall. She has an in-depth knowledge of legal regulations and requirements, ethical standards, compliance management, and GDPR. After several years counselling clients across all gender groups with varying abilities and disabilities, and a range of emotional and psychological needs, she focused on working in the specialised area of supporting male victims to overcome their struggles with gender socialisation. Rachel has created and led counselling projects for other counselling organisations and is also an HR Director at a male specialised counselling organisation. She engages in continued professional development each year, is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and works to their ethical standards. She is a fully qualified therapeutic counsellor, REWIND practitioner, and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP.) We have several qualified counsellors that work with different areas of trauma and are passionate about supporting others. Whatever you need to talk about, Rachel and her colleagues will listen to you.
