Do you even lift, bro?

But what are you training for?
Do you follow a plan?

Yes, I do lift — enough for me, at this particular moment in time.
It’s just that I don’t lift with my ego.
I focus on my form, where it’s at, and adjust from there.

I tune into how I’m feeling that day —
Did I get enough recovery?
Did I get enough sleep?
All of that contributes to my gains, bro! 💪

I used to get this question a lot when I went hard in the gym — especially on the running machine.
Sometimes I was training for a 10k run.
Sometimes I did it just to test myself… savage.

As far as a plan goes — right now, I’m just loving being back training.
Training for the sake of training.
To be fair, I never really stopped. I always kept it going.

But gym-wise?
I’m rediscovering that love of training, the enjoyment, the consistency.
And no — I don’t have a plan.

Just movement.
Just consistency.
And that’s enough.

Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.

I’ve seen this guy on Facebook ( Please see the picture for context) and started following his posts — he’s taking the typical life coach/mentor stance, being honest, accountable, and taking ownership, which is vital.
I’ve found him interesting.

However, something he said in one of his posts got me thinking (I’ve attached it to this post):

> “The self-help industry thrives on people who are not getting better.”

He then goes on to say every book promises transformation.
Well, that’s partly true.
I’ve read a few of those books — they don’t always promise transformation; they promise results if you do the work. There’s a difference.

Then he said, “If the self-help industry actually worked, you’d only need one book.”
Pardon me, but I call bullsh*t. That’s like saying one size fits all.

He finishes with “the entire industry is built on your continued failure.”

Self-help books aren’t for everyone, and that’s a fact.
The few I’ve read, I’ll admit, I’ve done so with raised eyebrows — sometimes the marketing is clever, and it does prey on the vulnerable.

But maybe, just maybe, one of those books gives someone a moment of clarity, a pick-me-up, or a symbol of hope when they need it most.
Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.

The overwhelming theme across nearly all of them is simple:
👉 Do the work on yourself.
Because if you don’t do the work, of course, it won’t work.

I once had a client I spoke to about breathing exercises to help with anxiety.
She said, “No, it didn’t work for me.”
So I asked, “Have you tried it?”
She said, “No!”
Then how do you know?

Bottom line:
Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.
