📢 Resident Doctors in Lancashire and South Cumbria set to strike

Resident doctors (formerly known as junior doctors) in our hospitals are set to take industrial action from 7am Friday 25 July to 7am Wednesday 30 July.

This five-day strike is expected to cause significant disruption to NHS services across the region, as resident doctors make up nearly half of all NHS doctors.

Use NHS 111 Online (or call 111 for children under five) for:
- Where to get help for your symptoms.
- How to find general health information and advice.
- Where to get an emergency supply of your prescribed medicine.
- How to get a repeat prescription.
- How to get an emergency dental appointment.

What a great initiative!

The big school uniform pop up shop returns on Sunday 3 August to Thursday 7 August from 10am to 3pm 📣

Come along to the Civic Centre in Leyland where free school uniform will be offered for all school across South Ribble and the event will also see the council’s social prescribing team on hand with several partners available to talk to families and to provide support.

Please bring your own bags, they will not be provided.

Want to donate? ♻

Please donate unwanted uniform at the Civic Centre, West Paddock, Leyland, PR25 1DH.

Donations will only be accepted between Monday 21 July to Friday 25 July 2025.

All donations must be in good condition and clean.

Our social prescribing service is available to support you with the cost of living, financial issues, social isolation, health and wellbeing including mental health and housing.

We helped over 500 people last year and
✅ 84% reported a reduction in loneliness
✅ 74% reported an increase in their wellbeing
✅ 148 households were supported through Household Support Fund amounting in £85,000 of financial support for residents

Sexual Health Services offered in Lancashire 👇

Patients who are eligible for a free NHS health check will be invited by our teams via sms.

There will be a self booking link to a blood appointment and at this blood test the nurse will book a follow up health check with you.

If you think you are eligible but have not received a text you can contact our reception teams after 10am who will be able to check and book but do not worry invites will continue to be sent to eligible patients throughout the year.

Eligibility for an NHS health check:

🩺You must be between 40 and 74 years old.
🩺No pre-existing conditions: You should not have been diagnosed with or be receiving treatment for heart disease, stroke, diabetes, kidney disease, or high cholesterol (including being prescribed statins).
🩺Not had a check recently: You should not have had an NHS Health Check within the past five years.

Those who do have pre existing conditions will be invited by our teams for their annual reviews as normal.

With lots of news circulating about measles we understand that parents may be concerned about their child's vaccination status. 💉Please check your child's red vaccination book or call our reception teams after 11am to check your child's vaccination status. 💉You can also submit an admin triage form below to ask if one of our teams can check your child's vaccination status and advise: https://accurx.nhs.uk/patient-initiated/p81018. If your child is due their measles vaccine our teams will assist with booking the next available appointment.

We're seeing a rise in measles cases.

Make sure your child is protected from becoming seriously unwell from measles by making sure they are up to date with their MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccinations.
