I’m getting so super excited as I prep up for this workshop.

In this workshop I’ll be bringing together my training over the last couple of years to share some of the amazing ways we can use exercise as medicine.

Going far beyond just getting fit specific exercise can support every aspect of our mental, physical and emotional well-being particularly as our hormones begin to change through the peri and into post menopause.

While I’ll be teaching a few techniques, this workshop is mostly theory, so you don’t need to be fit to come.
The idea is that you’ll be inspired, motivated and confident to start implementing exercise slowly & safely when you’re ready.

This is gonna be a truly lovely class. Like a gift to yourself.

I’ve called it ‘Stress and Anxiety’ workshop but I could have titled it ‘deep self care’ or ‘nervous system reset’ or ‘dropping into your parasympathetic’ or ‘learning to relax’ or ‘toning the Vagus Nerve’ or many other titles that are different versions of the same thing.

After choosing my top ten tools (some from the yoga tradition, breath work, Chinese tradition, some more recent science based) I started to practice them all every day in prep for the workshop and to see in which order they would work best.

This coincided with me taking a week off the gym as I was experiencing a hormonally driven bout of inflammation and had aches and pain in pretty much every joint. I knew I needed to give my body a rest and not cause any aggravation.

After doing these all of these practices daily and with extra committment, I would describe the experience as ’learning to be kind and to tenderly nourish a deeper part of myself’. I absolutely love them.

For years now I’ve started every yoga class and practice with one of these tools because the research is clear and it makes so much sense to me and while I’ve learnt that these practices have a profound effect on every element of our well being, from being open to experiencing joy to strengthening our bones, from our ability to absorb nutrients to our ability to concentrate, this was the first time I’d experienced it so fully.

Interesting enough, all of my aches and pains have gone, I’ve returned to the gym without any flares ups.

We’re only meant to be in our ‘fight or flight’ mode very occasionally but many of us exist in this state of stress for the majority of the time.
These super easy and simple tools will help you drop into the more peaceful ‘rest and digest’ mode where health, healing and happiness can happen.

Anyone can do them, they take minutes and are free.

Every year I’m blown away with how much I LOVE blackberry picking!
Hedgerows are one of the most diverse spaces we have left and when you amble slowly along you see so many weird and wonderful bugs, plants & spiderwebs as well as tiny birds and beautiful flowers. And I’ve noticed that I don’t just feel happy and connected when I pick but for the rest of the day.
And then feel good again when you eat these delicious little vitamin C bombs, which feel like natures gift to boost our immune system.
Honestly one of my favorite things 😌

RISE UP MINI WORKSHOP on top tips of dealing with STRESS & ANXIETY 
Stress and Anxiety are in a direct relationship with our hormonal health.
 Understanding this relationship and how learning tools to support ourselves will positively effect every aspect of our phyiscal, mental and emotional well being as well as avoiding the negitive cycles which create more stress and impact our health.
This will be a two hour workshop, we’ll start with a women’s circle and then I’ll explain a little about our nervous system and hormones, how they’re effected and why they’re important, look at life style top tips, how adaptogens can help and then we’ll spend a lovely relaxing hour practicing my favourite 10 tools for dealing with stress and anxiety.
Some of these practices are from the yoga tradition, including breath work, some from Chinese Traditional Medicine and some from more recent science based research.

Most amazing dinner with &
If you ever get the chance to go to one of these supper clubs, take it!

Every element of every one of the 6 courses was so carefully thought out and beautifully presented. Each mouthful was incredibly delicious and what made it one of the best meals I’ve ever had is that it’s also super healthy.

While Perimenopause is a normal and natural transition it’s also a pretty massive event and is a stressful time for our bodies.

Most of us will have times of heightened stress and anxiety at some point and this can intensify other symptoms and create a bit of a vicious circle effecting our mental, physical and emotional well being.
Understanding our stress is a key part of our well being through this journey.

Remember this? The last time the community came together en masse to raise awareness of plastic pollution. Swimming in Plastic grabbed attention and now we’re going to shout again 📢

Join us on Sat 19th July at the Wherrytown end of the prom as we create a Human Chain along the prom. We want to show how the community wants to protect the Ocean .. and call polluters to account. It’s part of Surfers Against Sewage The People vs Plastic campaign and there are events happening across the whole UK. According to Chinese Traditional Medicine, Summer is a time of outward energy and vitality, emphasizing connection, joy, and cultivating the heart’s energy.

We can reflect this in our practice with dynamic flows and working on asana’s that open the heart space and mantras that help to fill it with love.

It’s also important to complement all that fiery busy time with a nice lengthy relaxation to recharge our batteries.

We’ll also be exploring our shoulders ( as we did hips last time), morning on strength and mobility and incorporating the weights.

Drop in classes Monday 6-7.30
Wednesdays 10-11.30 ( gentle version) & Thursdays 9.30-11 run in half term blocks and are usually full but please send a message if you’d like to go on a waiting list.
