Here’s Becca’s run report for yesterday;
231st Land’s End parkrun – 27th September 2025
Today I was delighted to be running Land’s End parkrun for the first time, the most Southerly parkrun in the UK. It is also a great start to my birthday weekend, and a lovely weekend in Cornwall with family. I have joined a new age bracket, so perhaps I’ll now get to enjoy some better age graded scores while I’m one of the youngest in that age range!!!
We arrived and paid for our parking. The weather forecast suggested rain, but we made it through the run with only a few sprinkles to keep us cool. The sea views along the whole route are amazing, a nice distraction from the huffing and puffing!!! The first timers’ briefing made me chuckle. Clearly a course that attracts far more tourists than locals, because the group was asked to raise a hand if you weren’t a tourist!!! There were a handful of locals, but they were well outnumbered by visitors. The course was just as described a two lap course along the cycle path. I got to high five my family along the way, and got lapped by the front runner who finished in a super impressive 16.37 minutes!
120 parkrunners crossed the finish line today. At least 2 of those were first timers to Parkrun – welcome! 65 were first timers at this course. 32 runners were associated with running clubs. And 7 runners managed to achieve PBs – well done!! There were visitors from Texas, the Philippines, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Bognor and Exeter. Congratulations went out to Tamsin, the Timekeeper who was celerbrating her 17th birthday today. It was also her 78th volunteer. Happy Birthday, and well done you!
I’ll be returning to my home parkrun of Killerton near Exeter next week. It’s a single lap off-road course around a National Trust estate with beautiful scenery to distract you on your way round. It also has that all important café for afterwards!! If you’re ever passing on a Saturday morning, do come and join us.
A big thanks to the Race Director and all of the other volunteers this week, previous weeks, and future weeks to come. Thanks as well to all those regulars who make up such a welcoming parkrun family. My Saturday parkrun mornings are precious to me, and the perfect way to start a weekend. So, thank you all for helping make it happen.
