We’re sharing this update to help keep our community informed and protected. Meningitis B is a rare but serious infection, and while it can affect people of any age, it spreads more easily in settings where people are in close contact, such as universities, shared housing, or social events.

🟢 𝐍𝐨 𝐍𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜:

We want to reassure everyone that there is no cause for alarm. The recent meningitis B cases in Kent are isolated and contained, and there is currently no wider risk to the community. Public health teams are closely monitoring the situation, and anyone who may have been in direct contact has already been identified and supported. Staying informed is important, but there is no need for panic.

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬:

- Meningitis B can develop quickly

- Early symptoms can resemble common illnesses

- Vaccination is the best way to reduce your risk

𝐁𝐞 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐬:

- Fever

- Severe headache

- Sensitivity to light

- Vomiting

- Rash that doesn’t fade under pressure

- Neck stiffness

𝐈𝐟 𝐬𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐬 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐫, 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲.

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐯𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝:

At present, our surgery is not offering MenB vaccinations or booster doses. This includes both routine and outbreak‑related MenB vaccinations for older children, teens, or adults.

The UK routine MenB schedule currently applies only to infants, and there are no wider NHS catch‑up programmes for older age groups.

However, patients wishing to obtain a MenB vaccination or booster privately may do so through community pharmacies

We are looking for a friendly, reliable, and organised Part-Time Receptionist to join our busy GP surgery. This is a patient-facing role that plays a vital part in the smooth running of the practice.
You’ll need excellent communication and IT skills, a professional and empathetic manner, and the ability to work well in a busy environment. Previous experience in a GP surgery or healthcare setting is an advantage, but not essential, as full training will be provided.
We are looking for a degree of flexibility within working hours to include evening and weekend sessions.
Hours: Part-time
Salary: Competitive

Patient Notice: Limited Capacity Due to Weather

Due to the storm damage, some of our clinical staff are experiencing difficulty getting into work. As a result, we will be operating at limited capacity today.

While our phone lines remain open, we kindly ask patients to call only with urgent matters today. For routine enquiries, we would be very grateful if you could contact us next week.

Patient safety is our main priority. If you have an appointment booked for today and feel it is urgent, please take care when travelling to the practice. If you would prefer to rearrange your appointment, please contact us and we will be happy to assist.
