Do you have or care for someone with food allergy?

What are the research priorities for food allergy in children? The Food Allergy in Children Priority Setting Partnership aims to identify the Top 10 research priorities for food allergy in children.

915 patients and clinicians told us questions they want answered by future research, now have your say to pick the TOP 10 in the last survey!

This will ensure that researchers and those who fund research focus on what really matters to both patients and clinicians. Please complete the survey to get involved:

🌟 Community Update: Our Dispensary Team's Amazing Work! 🌟

Over the past two months, our dedicated dispensary team has dispensed an impressive 25,894 items to our valued patients.

We are incredibly proud of their hard work and commitment to ensuring that everyone receives their medications.

We noticed that 179 items were not collected during this time. Each uncollected item represents valuable resources that could be redirected to further enhance our services and support more patients in need. We kindly remind our patients to pick up their prescriptions to ensure they have the necessary medications and to help us manage resources effectively.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation πŸ’™

πŸ“ž The Call I Just Took πŸ“ž

We're proud to support the IGPM's "The Call I Just Took" campaign, which highlights the crucial role of our front-line reception staff in General Practice. Every day, they manage numerous calls and interactions, ensuring our patients receive timely and effective care.

Our reception team is often the first point of contact, handling everything from appointment bookings to urgent queries with professionalism and empathy.

This campaign is a call for compassion β€” because protecting our reception teams protects access to care. You don't know what happened on the call they just took.

Join us in appreciating their hard work and commitment. Let's give a big thank you to our incredible reception staff who are the heart of our practice! πŸ’™

Mrs Ailsa Sugrue is joining her husband, Dr David Sugrue, in retirement after working as a part time nurse and administrator at Marazion Surgery since 2013.

Ailsa completed her general nurse training in 1987 at Charing Cross in Hammersmith, where she met her husband.

In 1991 she qualified as a midwife and continued working at PAMW Treliske for a number of years until she paused her work life to look after her children.

In the in between years before starting at Marazion Surgery, Ailsa was a teaching assistant at her children’s primary school, as well as a school governor.

Ailsa is looking forward to more time spent with her husband walking the SW coast path as well as new adventures travelling the UK and beyond in their camper van.

She is thankful for the support given during her 12yrs at Marazion Surgery, especially when losing her son Teygan to Meningitis in 2014.

She will miss working with her team but is happy for the many lifelong friendships made.

All the doctors and staff at Marazion Surgery wish Ailsa a very happy and healthy retirement and thank her for her years of service. She will be greatly missed.

We are pleased to announce that we are making some changes to our appointments system:

β€’ Audits undertaken over the last year have repeatedly shown that the number of people who genuinely require an emergency appointment on the same day is quite low, compared to the number of people who would find it convenient and medically safe to book an appointment in the future.
β€’ Our aim is to increase the number of appointments that can be booked in advance, compared to the number available to book on the day.
β€’ Appointments will be released at regular intervals over a two-week rolling period, so that appointments can be booked a few days or up to two weeks in advance.
β€’ This will improve continuity of care, by having appointments available with your preferred clinician that you can book in advance for follow up.
β€’ We hope that this will alleviate the 8am rush on the telephones.

There will be a transitionary period, lasting a couple of weeks, as we gradually move to more pre-bookable appointments and less on the day appointments:

β€’ This is a big change, and we want to monitor the system to ensure it goes smoothly. For this reason, we have suspended the facility to book appointments with doctors online and the ability to book ahead may be affected for a short time. This means that during the transition period we will have more control on a day-to-day basis and be able to manage any unforeseen issues that arise proactively.

We will continue to ask you the reason for your call:

β€’ So that we can get the right type of help for you, our trained patient advisers will ask you for some information regarding the reason for your call. This information has been requested by the doctors.
β€’ Our patient advisers will ask you about your problem, how long you have had symptoms, what you have already done or tried, to resolve it.
β€’ Our patient advisers are qualified to direct you to the most appropriate member of team, such as a GP, Nurse, First Contact Physiotherapist, Clinical Pharmacist, Social Prescriber, local pharmacy, minor injuries unit, urgent care centre or A&E.
β€’ All enquiries will be dealt with in the same way, whether they are received by telephone, face-to-face, or on-line consultation.

We hope that this change will be very positive and help to meet the needs of our patient population. We are aware that the β€˜perfect’ appointment system does not exist, and many local GP Practices are trying different ways to manage demand, which continues to increase despite limited funding and resources in primary care.

Thank you for your support and understanding during this transition.
