Hi my lovelies. This is for any Penzance local who's approaching or already in their peri-menopausal years. (If you're post-menopausal, please keep an eye out for details about a group coming soon for you too!)
I have been running a course called "Art of Change" for over 15 years now, & have facilitated several ongoing perimenopausal women's groups over this time too. Although talking about this life-transition is much less taboo now than it was for previous generations it can still be a challenging time & in my experience it is so much easier to find the treasures & overcome the challenges if one is part of a heartful & soulful group.
This evening at the gorgeous Hive in Penzance, on December 9th, is a taster session where you'll have a chance to touch base with your feelings and thoughts about the perimenopause & to take a step on this "Passage to Power" journey together.

When I have a wave of self-doubt, or find myself feeling like the path ahead is being muddied by my fears, I often pick some 'oracle' cards to inspire and guide me.

Last week I used the 'Virtues Project' cards, & picked Grace, Devotion and Discernment. Devotion is a card I often pick (by 'pick' I mean, shuffle the pack & cut it to reveal the 'pick'; ie it's a way of receiving guidance from beyond the ego/conscious mind...so I suppose you might say the card picks me!). I love to be reminded that what I am doing is passionately, wholeheartedly focusing on my life's purpose....it's as simple as that. And the riches; the true wealth that comes ftom living this life is immeasurable.

The more I focus on what really matters to me, the quiter the self-doubts and fearful stories become.

So, here I am, waiting to write the next chapter of my life, & feeling immensely blessed to be part of a community - here in West Penwith - that doesn't just allow me to be me...it actively encourages ne to become more & more of me 🥰

In September I ran a residential women's retreat at Rosemerrynwood in Lamorna. It was one of the most profoundly moving groups I've ever facilitated, and it has spurred me on to plan more! The next one will be in March, and more details will follow.

For now though, here's some of the lovely feeback from the last one:

"The Retreat was unquestionably the best break I have had for years. It was so perfectly and painstakingly planned in every respect.

The house was wonderful and the perfect place to host a retreat.

The food was remarkable; the best and healthiest ingredients creatively made into exquisite meals.

Claire is an exceptionally skilled facilitator with a very nurturing presence. She uses many different techniques, incorporating lots of lovely activities.

The group were all kindred spirits whose company I enjoyed very much. We laughed and cried together and came away replenished, refreshed and more in tune with ourselves."

I've just spent a few days visiting my parents, who live on the Malvern Hills. It's about as far away as you can get from the sea, but is blessed with the most beautiful trees. I always try to visit at this time of year because the autumn colours up there are stunning (most of the leaves around my house get blown off before they get a chance to change colour!)

I am so grateful to still have my parents. They are in their late 80's....and we are starting to have intense conversations about the body's ageing process and their mortality. It feels surprisingly natural and down to earth to do so. Although we have always been a loving family, I have spent most of my life feeling like we were from different planets, but it turns out it's never too late to connect, to communicate and to find mutual understanding and respect. I feels like such a gift to spend this time with them.

As I approach my next decade (I'll be 60 in March) I am more and more committed to understanding and respecting myself as much as I do other people! Isn't it odd how we don't always do that? As I begin to do this, I realise how important it is to honour my "calling"; what a privilege it is to have found a way of working that makes my heart sing, and how crazy it is that I've not yet been brave enough to jump into that work with both feet..... That time is here now though!!

Heavenly massage yesterday...they just keep getting better & better, thank you .massage ...i'm a very lucky - & proud - Mama.
As the cold weather and longer nights draw in, my body needs treats! All summer I am barefoot & sun-kissed, but the winter presses me indoors & if i'm not careful I end up cooking & eating more than exercising!! Having one of Kia's massages reminds me to love my body & treasure it. Essential!

We live in a wild and windy spot, less than a mile from the sea in 3 directions, so when we bought this house, we planted 400 hedging trees (with the help of friends) to create shelter and privacy. The added bonus is that the hedges are full of birds nesting and the garden is now filled with birdsong.

Of all the birds we see on a daily basis, the wren is my favourite. For such a tiny bird it can be very loud, especially when threatened.

I did this panting, entitled "It's time to be heard", as part of my oracle card series. The wren reminds us that you are never too small to be heard, and that your values and dreams are always worth standing up for.

This year has been a "Time to be heard" sort of a year for me. I have finally listened to the voice inside me that has been saying "it's time to believe that you can make a living doing your soulwork" and I have begun to open my mind, raise the bar, and take the leap.

The life coach Mandy Morris uses the metaphor of a box, saying that we keep ourselves (in every area of our lives) in some sort of a box, with a ceiling and a basement/floor, and that in order to grow and blossom we need to recognise where we are containing ourselves below a too low ceiling, or hovering above a too sparse a basement.

The Wren's gift can really help in this process; can help us to expand our too small voice; our too small box, so we can finally sing the song we were born to sing.
