🍳 Kitchen Assistant / Cook Wanted – Join Our Friendly Care Home Team!

💷 Pay: From £13.45 per hour
🕒 Full-time

We’re looking for an enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant / Cook to join our dedicated and friendly kitchen team, supporting our elderly residents at Courtlands Care Home.

What you’ll be doing:

Planning menus with residents and management (including special diets & preferences)
Preparing and serving meals in a timely manner
Ensuring meals are well-presented before serving
Ordering supplies and maintaining cost control (under supervision)
Managing stock and ensuring proper storage of food and supplies
Keeping the kitchen clean, sanitised, and organised
Using and maintaining kitchen equipment safely
Supporting the wellbeing and safeguarding of our residents

What we’re looking for:

At least 1 year of cooking experience
Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (NVQ Level 2 or higher desirable)
A positive, reliable, and team-focused attitude
Commitment to maintaining our 5⭐ standards

It has been a wonderful week of St Piran’s Day celebrations here, filled with music, laughter and plenty of Cornish treats!

On Monday afternoon we were delighted to welcome the fantastic Penzance Guizers, who brought great energy, music and smiles to everyone. Residents thoroughly enjoyed the lively performance and the wonderful atmosphere they created.

Later in the week we had another joyful afternoon with Roger and Mel, where residents enjoyed dancing, clapping along and singing to some favourite tunes. Music always brings such happiness and it was lovely to see everyone joining in.

Of course, no St Piran’s celebration would be complete without some traditional Cornish favourites. Pasties, cream teas and saffron cake were all enjoyed — and went down an absolute treat! 🥟🍓🍰

A big thank you to everyone who helped make the week so special. It has been a lovely way to celebrate Cornwall’s patron saint together. 🖤🤍

With our comfortable armchairs, soft lighting and big screen ready to go, an afternoon that will be enjoyed by all.

On the morning of Tuesday 24 February, the six historic bronze cannons at St Michael’s Mount will be test fired as part of routine maintenance and heritage conservation.

The firing will take place intermittently during the morning and will be audible across Mount’s Bay, including Marazion and surrounding areas. These controlled test firings form an important part of caring for the Mount’s historic artillery and ensure the continued safe operation of this longstanding tradition.

We would be grateful if local residents and businesses could share this information where helpful. It won't be visible to the public for safety reasons. However, we will post a video on our social channels.

At 2pm, we’ll be holding our Valentine’s Celebration with Proper Job Disco – Golden Oldies, a fun and inclusive afternoon full of music and memories. 🕺🎶
