Protect your back in the garden 🌼 Gardening is great exercise, but it can be tough on the back if we’re not careful.

Helpful tips:
πŸͺ‘ Avoid prolonged stooping
🧎 Use kneeling pads when planting
πŸ’ͺ Bend your knees when lifting
πŸ”„ Change positions regularly
⏱️ Take breaks to stretch

Did you know? Gardening gives you exposure to beneficial microbes: soil contains benefical bacteria and coming into contact with these microorganisms can help train your immune system, possibly reducing the likelihood of inflammatory conditions 🌻πŸ₯•

Women's health is more than just check ups. Its about understanding your body through every stage of life. πŸ‘©

Bone density: As we age, especially in the years approaching the menopause, bone strength can decline. Weight bearing exercise and calcium rich foods can help keep your bones strong.

As Chiropractors we consider bone density and its importance. One simple exercise we suggest to some female patients are heel drops. They are simple, but very effective at stimulating the cells involved in maintaining bone density.

Just 5 heel drops a day is enough to promote a positive change in bone density.

A heel drop is when you raise up onto your toes, and fall down onto your heels at a moderate speed to cause a vibration through the body. You only need to do 5 a day, any more than this will not cause an increased improvement.

Supporting spinal mobility, posture, and movement can help women stay active, comfortable, and confident throughout every stage of life πŸ’œ

As the days become longer and the weather begins to warm up β˜€οΈ, many people naturally start spending more time outdoors. Running, gardening, cycling, and tackling DIY projects can all increase during spring.

After a quieter winter period, however, muscles and joints may need time to adapt to increased activity. Jumping straight into more demanding exercise can sometimes lead to strains in areas such as the lower back, knees, or shoulders.

Gradually increasing activity levels, warming up properly πŸ”₯, and paying attention to how your body feels can help reduce the risk of injury and keep movement comfortable.

Spring is a great time to get active again - taking it step by step helps your body stay strong and resilient 🌿.

Smoking can affect circulation and reduce the amount of oxygen reaching tissues throughout the body. This can slow recovery, increase inflammation, and affect how muscles and joints function. ❀️

When people stop smoking, circulation often improves and the body is better able to repair and recover from everyday strain or injury πŸ’ͺ. Many people also notice improvements in breathing 🫁, energy levels ⚑, and general wellbeing.

Every positive change, no matter how small, is a step towards better long-term health.

University life can be exciting but also demanding. Long hours studying πŸ“–, deadlines, exams, and increased screen time πŸ’»πŸ“± can all add pressure to both the mind and body.

Spending long periods sitting and studying can place extra strain on the neck, shoulders, and upper back, which may lead to tension headaches πŸ€•, stiffness, and fatigue. When the body feels uncomfortable, it can make it harder to concentrate, relax, or get good quality sleep.

Taking time to move regularly πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ, stretch πŸ§˜β€β™‚οΈ, and reset posture throughout the day can help ease tension and support both physical and mental wellbeing. Looking after your body can make a real difference when managing stress and staying focused during busy academic periods.
