Yesterday afternoon felt like a true "Double Bubble" of joy!
We were treated to another wonderful visit from Andy, who arrived with his impressive collection of guitars in tow. He made quite the entrance, stepping "out of the shadows" with all the stealth and presence of an Apache warrior!!!!!! 😂🤣😅

While the melodies were flowing, the celebrations were in full swing for John’s birthday. It was a heartwarming scene as he marked the occasion surrounded by his loving family and, of course, his close-knit circle of friendsn😁. Good tunes, great company, and a milestone birthday, it doesn't get much better than that! 🎸✨🎂

🤝 Community & Connection in Action!

Our Dementia and Wellbeing Lead, Paul Chambers had a fabulous day yesterday at the Living Well with Dementia - Age UK Wyvern ‘Care Connection Day’! 🌟 It was an absolute privilege to spend time with so many dedicated care providers and support networks who serve our local community.

A massive thank you to Kelly Reeves for organising such a seamless and impactful event. Your hard work behind the scenes made these vital connections possible! 🙌✨In addition, thank you to Sarah and all the team at 'Wallace House Community Centre' in Evesham for your hospitality.

🎸 Sunjay Saves the Day! 🌟

Talk about a twist of fate! After being let down by our pre-scheduled performer on Wednesday, we weren’t sure how the afternoon would go, however it turns out it was meant to be. The fantastic Sunjay stepped in at the very last minute and absolutely blew us away! 🎤✨

The lounge was packed, and the energy was incredible, residents, families and friends enjoying the fun. We had a room full of dancing, singing, and non-stop laughter. 💃🕺

Sunjay’s Buddy Holly tribute is nothing short of amazing. He had everyone on their feet with all the absolute classics:

There’s nothing like a sing-along to make the garden grow! 🎶

Kate and our lovely residents spent a weekend afternoon getting their hands dirty, planting a beautiful mix of wisteria, poppies, and dahlias for the summer.

The competitive spirit is already blooming! Some of our residents have started a friendly challenge to see who can grow the biggest wisteria. We can’t wait to see these colours pop! 🌸✨

This past weekend, the main lounge transformed into a high-stakes arena for a legendary tournament of Snakes and Ladders. The atmosphere was electric as the residents split into two fiercely competitive factions: the bold Orangaders and the swift Harriers.

What started as a simple board game quickly escalated into a battle of wills. The air was thick with tension and team spirit, with both sides breaking into rhythmic chants of their opponents' names, part psychological warfare, part genuine camaraderie.

Every roll of the dice brought a roar of cheers or a collective groan as players narrowly escaped a snake's tail or scaled a game-changing ladder.

In a nail-biting finish that came down to the final few squares, the Orangaders managed to dodge the last remaining pitfalls and clinch the title! While the Harriers fought a noble fight, the weekend belonged to the Orangaders, who walked away with the ultimate bragging rights.

It was an afternoon of intense rivalry, but above all, a fantastic display of community spirit. Stay tuned for the inevitable rematch!

Today’s Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) session was truly a standout experience, proving once again why these moments are absolutely priceless. There is a special kind of magic in the time we spend with our residents, a genuine connection that is always warmly reciprocated through their smiles, stories, and active engagement.

We delved deep into a vibrant exploration of current affairs from decades past, with a particular focus on the iconic 1960s. The room was buzzing as we journeyed through a variety of nostalgic milestones, including:

The Dawn of an Icon: Recalling the excitement of the very first Ford Mustang going on sale.

Sporting Heritage: Discussing the legendary matches played on the grass courts of Wimbledon.

Social Revolutions: Reminiscing about the stylish craze of the espresso bars that once defined high-street culture.

Old Currency: Navigating the mental math and memories of shillings and sixpences.

Active Play: Reliving the simple joy of traditional ball games.

We even shared a musical interlude, sparked by the upbeat notes of Cliff Richard’s ‘Summer Holiday’, which had everyone tapping their toes, waving arms and opening those vocal chords.

By unearthing such fabulous conversations and forgotten treasures of the past, the entire group left the session feeling completely energised. It was more than just a trip down memory lane; it was a powerful reminder of the rich lives our residents have led, leaving us all invigorated for the rest of the day.

What an incredible afternoon at our latest Pub Quiz! 🍻 To say the competition was fierce would be the understatement of the year, residents were bringing their A-game and fighting for every single point.

A massive shoutout to our host, Jackie, who was absolutely brilliant on the mic! She kept the energy sky-high and the crowd on their toes. It was a total laugh from start to finish with the perfect mix of brainpower and banter. 🧠✨

What an absolutely magical morning we spent in the company of the one and only Ian Hardman.
There truly are no words to describe the atmosphere he creates; from the very first note to the final chord, Ian had the entire room captivated and energized.
The energy reached a spectacular peak during the finale, with the lounge ringing out in a heartfelt chorus of "For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow." It was a wonderful moment to see our residents showing their genuine appreciation for such a talented performer and friend.

🎶 The Hills are Alive (and so is the Lounge!) 🎶

We had a bit of a "showstopper" Wednesday here! A massive thank you to Hannah from Mini Concerts for stopping by and absolutely bringing the house down.

Hannah took our residents on a whirlwind tour of the classics, from the sweet melodies of 'Springtime Music' and 'The Sound of Music' to the high-energy razzle-dazzle of 'Chicago' and 'Oklahoma!'.

We’re not saying our residents are ready to run away and join a traveling theater troupe, but we did see some very professional, grade toe-tapping and a few high notes that would give the West End a run for its money! 🎭✨

It was the perfect way to wrap up a Wednesday. We’re already practicing our bows because we’ll definitely have more from Mini Concerts in the future!
