Wonderful! 👍😊

After identifying interlocking symmetries in mammalian cells, scientists can describe some tissues as liquid crystals — an observation that lays the groundwork for a fluid-dynamic theory of how tissues move.

I have brought back a huge amount of new information from the scar conference in Montpellier. There were so many interesting speakers, including surgeons, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, people who specialise in creams and gels, or compression garments or hands on treatment.
The country that seems to be streeets ahead on research is Belgium and this is a great website that gives really sound advice……highly recommended!

I've just returned from a wonderful few days in Montpellier, listening to surgeons and therapists from around the world talk about the latest advances in wound and scar care. It took part in the anatomy theatre of the medical school, the oldest continually used medical school in the world(who knew?)

I've always been very sceptical of the idea of Scar Tissue release. A scar will always be there, no matter what you do to it. However I've seen some superb changes with hands on work and I'm excited to be going into the dissection lab in October to look specifically at scars and how they form.

I'm working with Hannah Poulton who is a scar tissue specialist and women's health physiotherapist and we have lots of donors with scar tissue lined up. We'll be looking at how it forms, what the timescales are and what we might be able to to in terms of creating more movement around the areas.

All the content will be available for a lifetime and will give you incredible insight into scars and how to treat them.

This is a great article in the British Journal of Nursing about scar management.
Referenced is Luc Teot who has done a lot of research on how to prevent a body forming too much scar tissue. He is one of the leads at the conference I am going to in Montpellier in September ....can't wait!

Since the 1950s, many scar assessment tools have been developed for burn scar assessment. The number of scar assessment tools available attests to the difficulty of finding one appropriate instrument. However, it is important that a scar is assessed so that efficacy of treatment can be determined (T...
