Enjoyed a 10 mile hike over the weekend finishing up the Rob Roy way. Been working on this one for a while so it was nice to have completed it …and what a beautiful day we got for it ! ☀️ 🥾 🍁.

I think what I love so much about completing a trail is that it feels like you know the story of the land. You can drive by a place a million times, but when we slow down to notice the details that is when the real story unfolds. I’m feeling super grateful as my chapter in Scotland comes to an end.

Some of you have been asking questions about my new shiny IASTM tools. So I thought I would dig into my course notes , and give you a little history 📚 💆‍♀️ 🤓

IASTM has been documented in major medical records dating back to the 1300s in form of Gua Sha. There are references of Gua Sha dating back to ancient cultures such as Egypt, China, India and Greece. This method was originally thought to remove blood stagnation, enhanced circulation, restore fluid balance and facilitate metabolic processes. In The ancient bathhouses of Greece and Rome metal tools were used for therapeutic purposes.

IASTM emerged in the late 1990s, after David Graston invented the Graston technique instruments. Stainless steel was chosen, as it can generate the most vibration and it was easier to detect soft tissue adhesions and restrictions. This is something I like about this technique. I can feel what I’m doing through the vibration of the metal.

I have slowly been implementing using these tools into my practice where beneficial and appropriate. I’m enjoying this new technique and I hope you do too 😊 💆‍♀️
