Which stress/trauma response do you tend to rely on? Does it depend on the environment/trigger?
We are often activated when other people respond in a particular trauma response, because it reminds us of the past. So we rely on adaptive behaviours.
For example if someone is in Fight response (combative/aggressive) we may automatically Fawn in order to appease and de-escalate. This can cause disconnection from the Self where we put our own needs to the side and ignore our emotional response. Over time burnout and resentment can build up. Working on this can include learning how to activate the helpful side of our responses such as - The Flight response (creating distance) or The Fight response (setting boundaries).
Understanding your trauma responses and finding new ways to respond and regulate your nervous system can be a game changer for your life, relationships and career.
