New Rannoch is a dementia friendly day centre for older people. New Rannoch was refurbished in 2013 and provides some of the latest features of dementia friendly design.

The centre has several small, homely activity rooms along with a domestic kitchen, dining area, and an internal and external garden. Service Users can move about the centre and garden freely as all external doors are fobbed and alarmed no-one can enter or leave the centre un-noticed which provides a safe and secure environment for Service Users and Staff. The centre can support up to 40 people a day.

New Rannoch not only offers a service in a safe, friendly and welcoming environment but also supports Service Users to participate in activities in the
wider community.

Living with dementia!

In Scotland, dementia currently effects an estimated 90,000 people, 3,000 of whom are under the age of 65.

Dementia is a progressive illness. But, many people with a dementia diagnosis can still keep doing most of the things they have always enjoyed. They can also be an active part of their community, particularly in the earlier stages.

In some cases, a friend or relative with dementia might need a bit more support. But, by staying in contact and doing many of the things you’ve always done together, you can help them more than you think.
