Meet our volunteers! This month we have decided to show off some of our incredible volunteers and showcase how vital they are to the running of our service! 💖
First up 🥁🥁🥁
Brooke is one of our incredible café volunteers! 🥳 Currently in university studying psychology, she is gaining vital skills that contribute to her studies, such as supporting some of our clients as she supports our café on a Friday! Brooke has the skills to do everything in the café from helping clients bake our yummy traybakes and cakes, to making sure the café dishes are s***k and span. 🫖🧽🫧 We truly value the time Brooke gives to us. Make sure to say hi next time you are ordering your coffee from Brooke! ☕️👋

Be in your Community: A self-care activity!
Self care sounds like it could be a lonely experience right? 😱
We think that self-care can actually be achieved through being selfless 🌍. Even if your community is small, one small act of kindness to another can brighten theirs and your day! 🤩Showing others kindness allows you to be with others and shows that kindness can be for everyone, even you! ❤️Heres our suggestions:
- Give someone a big grin when walking past them. 😀
- Say good morning or have a great day to a stranger. 😎☀️
- Give someone in your life a compliment. 👍🏻
-if at work or in a group, start a conversation with someone you don't normally talk too. 🗣️

Move your body: Self care activity!

we knowwwww that the thought of exercise for some can feel overwhelming, or frankly a bit boring! 🥱
But it has been shown time and time again that moving your body can have a positive impact on your mental wellbeing. 🧠🤩 Not only that, but moving your body is a message to yourself that you care about your body and are grateful for what it can do! 🤗👣 We don't expect you to go and run a 5k (especially in this rain!😅) but we prompt you to take even 5 minutes to connect with and move your body. Here's some suggestions:
- 5 minutes of yoga.🧘‍♀️
- just dance on YouTube! or dance to your favourite tunes🎶🎸
- change your bedsheets (I promise this is exercise jeheeez) 🛌
- Trampolining ☄️
- small bike ride/jog. 🚴‍♀️🏃

Showing your body some kindness by using it IS an act of self-care, even when your mind doesn't want too. And if you do some exercise and stil feel terrible after, at least you can be proud of yourself for trying! Let us know below how you moved your body today. 🥳🏆⬇️⬇️

A little treat for future you: A self care activity!

In a time where self-care is talked about all over the internet, we can forget that self care is not always immediate or easy. Today we prompt you to do a hard thing you've been putting off🙂‍↕️🫣. It does not need to be a large task, nor does it need to be done perfectly, but make sure that it’s something that future you would be thankful for!🤗🥹 here's some suggestions:

- take the bin out.
- re-organise one drawer in your home.
- dust a room.
- hoover your car.
- do that scary phone call.
- make your lunch for the next day

We know that this is hard, but we encourage you to show that you can do hard things! your future self will feel stronger and calmer for it💪🏼We believe in you! 🫵 🏆🥳Let us know below which task you did today that you've been putting off.⬇️⬇️😁

Out of the norm: self care activity! 🙌🏻

Sometimes we can get stuck in a 'rut' keeping with our routines and life commitments and we don't have energy left over to do the things we would like to do. ⚡️🔋🪫
Todays prompt is to try something that your interested in, even if its not in your normal routine. We stress that we do not aim for perfection or completion in this task, but to show yourself kindness by giving yourself time to seek joy and novelty! here's some suggestions.
-play a card game ♥️♦️♣️
- draw a silly cartoon (imperfectly!!) ✍️
- try a new form of movement (eg. Yoga) 🧘‍♀️
- pick a genre of movie you don't normally watch and watch it in a different room. 📺
- cook a different meal.🥘
- try a new craft. 🧶👩‍🎨

The more we tell ourselves that we don't have the time to try the things we want too, the more we tell ourselves that our wants aren't important. let us know what new thing you tried, big or small so others can get inspiration! 😁🤩

We know that when we aren't feeling great or if life is overwhelming, it can be so hard to remember that self care can be incredibly basic.

For today’s self care activity, we prompt you to make sure that you have looked after your basic needs, it can make a bigger difference than you think!
-Have you gotten outside today? 🌱
-Moved your body?🚶🚶‍♀️
-Drank a glass of water?💦
-Had a tasty meal?🥘
-Taken any medicine/vitamins you need to take?💊
