A black Moon is another name for a rare kind of 'new Moon'. Today, the new moon rose with the sun. This is why we never see a new moon.

It won’t be black either.

During the new Moon, the Moon is between the Sun and Earth, so the whole of the Earth-facing side of the Moon is in darkness.

A monthly black Moon is the second new Moon in a month, while a seasonal black Moon is the third new Moon in an astronomical season of four new Moons.

The 23rd August 2025 black Moon is a seasonal black Moon.

That's because the current astronomical season began with the summer solstice, which was on
20/21st June 2025 and ends with the Equinox on 22nd September 2025.

There are four new moons within this season: 25 June, 24 July, 23 August, and 21 September.

That's why todays new Moon is a seasonal black Moon.

So it's a day for a new moon.

We get a new moon every month.

New moons are like a seed planted in the darkness. They then grow into a full moon some 2 weeks later .

This is why they are fabulous for manifesting and growing. Set intentions, begin new projects, and set new goals.

Performing a new moon manifesting ritual is a powerful way to set intentions and manifest your desires. By aligning your energy with the moon's, you tap into the universal power of manifestation and breathe life into your dreams.

They can also have a tendency to affect emotions too just as when the moon is full. These can run deep, if not deeper.

This is great for star gazing if we are lucky enough to have no clouds.

Sloe berries, fruits of the blackthorn shrub, hold significance in Celtic and European folklore as symbols of protection, transformation, and inner resilience. Associated with the harshness of winter, their tartness and thorny nature symbolize the process of enduring hardship to find wisdom and sweetness. They were used in charms to ward off negativity and in traditional medicine for healing. Their association with the fairy world and the transition between life and death, and the use of blackthorn wood for wands, further imbue them with mysticism and potent spiritual energy.
Amulets crafted from blackthorn wood were believed to offer protection against evil spirits.

The Celts believed that the acorn was a powerful talisman that could bring good luck, prosperity, and fertility. The acorn also represented the promise of new beginnings and the potential for growth and transformation.

Hawthorn offers a time of renewed energy and healing as we begin a new adventure of the heart. By tending to our hearts' desires, we will have the strength to follow our dreams.

The common hawthorn Crataegus monogyna has been used for thousands of years to heal a “broken” heart. In folk medicine, the flowers, leaves, and fruit are used to help reduce blood pressure, anxiety, and inflammation. Chinese medicine, it is used to improve digestion and cardiovascular function. Modern medicine is now using hawthorn to help treat chronic heart failure, elevated cholesterol, and coronary heart disease. It is seen as a tonic for strengthening heart contractions, thereby decreasing fatigue and shortness of breath, all of which help to improve endurance.

Hawthorn is a tree of springtime and the birth of new possibilities.

Hawthorn blossoms can be made into teas and tonics. The haw fruit is harvested into jam and wine, while the wood can be carved into sacred items and boxes to hold our hopes and dreams.

Message: When hawthorn appears, it brings a message of hope and healing for our heart on both the physical and emotional levels. This could signal the beginning of a new relationship or adventure. When we open our hearts and minds to what is possible, we soon discover that we are not alone on our journey. Hawthorn cleanses the heart of negativity and replenishes the body through nourishment. Hawthorn encourages us to feel renewed and refreshed as we venture forward on our journey through life.

Today, 23.07.25, we head into a dark moon phase whereby the moon isn't visible at all. This leads us into a New moon on 24.7. 25 so be careful of your thoughts and what you wish for .

Ive always noticed a stronger change of energies around New moon 🌚 time rather than just at full moon.

Roses are ancient flowers that predate human history, so it is not surprising they have a rich and complex symbolic history. Roses are the last flowers to bloom in spring and used to bloom just once, which made them representative of the transience of life. In Greek mythology, roses were created from the same sea foam as Aphrodite, the goddess of love and s*x, and they were associated with her from the beginning. Originally, they were white, but one day, Aphrodite runs to save the life of her beloved Adonis after he had been gored by a boar. She steps on a rose thorn that pierces her heel, and her flowing blood stains the petals red, so now white roses and red roses have very different connotations. White roses are often referred to as Rosa mystica, which means purity, innocence, virginity and the coming of new life in spring, while red roses are referred to as Rosa mundi, which means passion, desire, fertility, pain and death.

On the one hand, the imp saves the girl from death, but on the other, he makes a devil's bargain with her. He wants her child, for 'something living is dearer to me than all the treasures of the world'. The imp is a wild, unpredictable force of nature who loves riddles and games, sings and dances, and helps the miller's daughter escape her difficult situation and find love and purpose in her life. In the earliest tale recorded by the Grimm brothers the titular character is named Rumpenstünzchen, which may mean 'little stunted one', The word 'imp' is a fascinating one as it has several layers of meaning. It comes from the ancient Greek for "implant," meaning to "bring forth and make grow," and referred to vegetation. The sense of the word slowly shifted from plants to people, meaning 'child or offspring' by mediaeval times. A wolf is a powerful creature of the wild that has become a symbol of deep- seated human fears. In fairytales such as 'Little Red Riding Hood' the wolf is depicted as a ruthless and ravenous hunter, a sly and manipulative trickster and an embodiment of male predatory behaviour, but wolves can also be seen as symbols of strength, courage and loyalty. Ancient Rome was founded by twins suckled by a she-wolf, while some Native American tribes prayed to wolves before they went out to hunt. St Francis of Assisi tamed a man-eating wolf with the sign of the cross and bade the local people to feed it so it would no longer prey on them because of its hunger.
In fairytales, all characters represent parts of the human. psyche. When the girl with the red hood travels into the dark forest, we travel with her and face the same dangers she does, and when she is reborn at the end of the tale, so are we. That means that the wolf, the antagonist of the tale, is also part of us. He is the agent of change that brings about the girl's initiation into womanhood, and it is only by facing him that she is able to grow into wisdom. The gender of the wolf is significant: as well as representing wildness and freedom from restraint, the wolf represents the male element that is otherwise absent from the story. Little Red Riding Hood must embrace both the feminine and masculine aspects of her psyche in her journey to self-realisation.
MEANING Drawing Wolf is a reminder to not be afraid of your wild side. Go out into nature, test your strength and your courage, and howl at the moon. Follow your instincts and trust your intuition. It is only by facing your fears can you overcome them.
