Absolutely thrilled to share that I've been shortlisted as a finalist for the ‘National B.A.M.E Health & Care Awards 2024’ in two categories: ‘Voluntary Sector B.A.M.E Influencer of the Year’ and Educator of the Year’. Alhamdulillah!
It’s a true honour to be recognized among such distinguished finalists from both primary and secondary care. The winners will be announced next month at the Award Ceremony in London.
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Dr. Muhammad Usman and Dr. Lubna Salim for nominating me for these prestigious National Awards. My heartfelt thanks go to the incredible team at Thistlemoor Medical Centre for their unwavering support in my community work and for fostering a positive teaching environment.
I’m also profoundly grateful to the Mosques Health Champions Network , local British Islamic Medical Association - BIMA colleagues, local community leaders, Gladca, PARCA and the Joint Mosques Council Peterborough for their continuous support in helping me deliver health awareness programs in the community over the past few years. This journey would not have been possible without their support and collaboration! 🙏🙏

The Crisis hits close to home 😢.
British Islamic Medical Association - BIMA’s survey of its members during the Nov-Dec 23 crisis highlights alarming censorship, isolation and neglect of Muslim workers, alongside a surge in Islamophobia.

This trend is not isolated to the UK but is a global concern, indicating a disturbing rise in divisions and Islamophobia.

Now more than ever, unity is crucial in fostering inclusivity and equity for all. No one should be subjected to abuse based on their religion.

Regulators, unions, universities, employers and allies in our healthcare system must urgently address and protect Muslim staff and students.

It was an absolute pleasure to welcome Prof. Daksha Trivedi and her NIHR Clinical Research Network East of England team along with Dr. Salman Waqar, President British Islamic Medical Association - BIMA to the event at our beautiful Faizan E Madina Mosque this afternoon. The research team shared the preliminary findings of the evaluation of the BIMA intervention for bowel cancer screening in the Muslim community. The study demonstrated a significant impact on people's behaviors and attitudes toward taking up bowel cancer screening after the intervention. The final report will be published in due course. It is encouraging to know that this study has already garnered considerable national attention, and hopefully, it will pave the way for diverting resources toward faith groups to deliver health awareness programs. I am grateful to UKIM Masjid Khadijah Islamic Centre Peterborough, Masjid Ghousia Peterborough, Masjid Fazian E Madina, Joint Mosques Council Peterborough, Salaam Radio, Gladca, PARCA Thistlemoor Medical Centre, Nisha Beg-Khan, my great colleagues from the local BIMA group, Mosques Health Champions Network Peterborough and the community leaders for helping me in conducting this study!
