⚠️ Waxing + retinols = skin damage (if you’re not careful)
Retinoids thin the stratum corneum and increase epidermal turnover.
Waxing removes hair and skin.
Together? You risk burns, tearing, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and scarring.
The golden rule:
❌ Stop retinol / tretinoin / adapalene 5–7 days before waxing
❌ Do NOT restart for 5–7 days after
If your skin feels “fine” — that doesn’t mean it’s safe.
Barrier damage often shows after, not during.
As a medical skin specialist, this is one of the most common avoidable injuries I see.
