𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

Last month, our GM, our commercial team and our expert poultry nutritionists headed up North for the annual Northern Broiler Conference.

It was a brilliant opportunity to network with customers and industry leaders, and we took a lot from the day, including:

1️⃣ How Defra figures show UK poultry meat product has risen significantly due to heavier birds
2️⃣ Why factors such as microbiome development, early feed and water intake in the first few days set flock trajectory and impact bird health
3️⃣ That avian influenza outbreaks rarely result from a single factor, but rather multiple pressures
4️⃣ The urgent need to improve visibility, tracking and data-driven decisions to support producers
5️⃣ Why our customers continue to trust ABN nutrition

A big thank you to David Gibson from The British Poultry Council, Charlotte Cole from St David's Poultry Team, and Julian Sparrey and Jack Hughes from Livetec.

The British Pig & Poultry Fair, taking place at the NEC Birmingham on the 13th & 14th May, hosts three forum theatres across the two days. These sessions give farmers the chance to hear directly from industry leaders and experts on a wide range of relevant topics.

In 2024, discussions included fairness in the egg supply chain, supporting the next generation, and reducing the environmental impact of pig farming, alongside many other important industry issues.

We’re looking forward to hearing what’s in store for the 2026 forum discussion topics.

Last month, our senior poultry nutritionist - Brian Kenyon - joined other industry-leading speakers at the Processors and Growers Research Organisation’s ‘From Soya to Sustainability’ conference.

Reducing reliance on imported peas 🫛 and beans 🫘 was top of the agenda. Brian shared insights on:

It was a really insightful, interactive day, and a privilege for ABN to share our expertise with the wider industry.

The conference was part of the NCS Project, and our work supporting that will continue over the next few months - so watch this space for more updates.
