HPV is a common virus and most people will get it at some point in their lives. The

HPV vaccine helps protect against several cancers, including cervical cancer and cancers of the mouth, throat and ge****ls.

In the UK, the vaccine is offered to boys and girls in Year 8 at school to help protect them later in life. If it was missed at school, it may still be available through your GP practice if you are 25 or under.

The vaccine protects against high-risk HPV types, but it does not protect against all of them. This is why cervical screening is still important when invited.

It was a pleasure to welcome Andrew Pakes for Peterborough MP to Thistlemoor Medical Centre this week.

During his visit, he met with Dr Neil Modha, Dr Azhar Chaudhry, Paulina Janczura, and Rachana Khartri to discuss the ongoing work we are delivering for our community and the vision for our new development.

We spoke openly about some of the challenges we are currently facing with the new development and asked for his support in helping us overcome barriers so we can continue expanding and improving services for local residents. It was an important and constructive conversation about collaboration and ensuring our community has access to the high-quality facilities it deserves.

🦠 Norovirus is spreading – please help protect our community.

If you have sickness or diarrhoea, it may be Norovirus. The good news is that most people can safely manage their symptoms at home.

✔️ Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration

✔️ Rest and allow your body time to recover

✔️ Take paracetamol if needed for fever or aches

✔️ Wash your hands regularly with soap and water (hand gels are less effective for Norovirus)

Cervical screening is one of the best ways to protect yourself from cervical cancer.

It checks the health of your cervix and looks for HPV (a common virus) and early cell changes – helping to prevent cancer before it starts.

In the UK, cervical screening saves at least 2,000 lives every year. Attending your appointment could make a real difference.

You may be invited if:
