Description of Service
Disability Peterborough is a local charity that provides a range of services and programs for people with a Physical Disability. We are seeking an enthusiastic and engaging individual to join our Peterborough Shop Mobility Service to manage the project and volunteers. The service currently operates 4 days a week, providing powered wheelchairs and mobility scooters to enable people with disabilities to have equal access to Queensgate Shopping Centre and the surrounding town center.
Job Purpose
Your role will be to manage all aspects of operating the Shopmobility Service, delivering an exemplary, efficient and effective service to all visitors, enquirers and Shopmobility Scheme users. You will ensure that all appropriate standards of security and health and safety are met. You will be required to develop the service and make community connections with a view to expanding the operational hours of the service and recruiting more volunteers.
Principal Duties:
• Managing the Service on a day-to-day basis
• Ensuring the service is open on operational days and is adequately staffed with volunteers
• Recruitment, training and support of volunteers to run the service on a regular basis; encouraging an active interest in the management of in line with Disability Peterborough policies and procedures.
• Maintaining and updating rotas to ensure volunteers know what their commitments are.
• Being responsible for the security of the service operational space, holding the keys and ensuring that keys are available for the necessary volunteers if not personally on duty.
• Assist with developing the services responsive to the needs of visitors and Shopmobility scheme users
• Contribute towards maximising revenue generation and achieving income targets
• Ensure the Shopmobility scheme create a welcoming, professional and positive image and equipment is kept clean and reporting any repairs required.
• To put on promotional events as required
• Manage all administration procedures relating to the operation of Shopmobility, including receiving payments, cash reconciliation and banking.
• Manage the Shopmobility booking system and complete accurate electronic records regarding membership, usage and equipment hire, as well as compiling monthly usage reports.
• Ensure that premises and equipment are safe, clean and welcoming.
• To ensure that statutory responsibilities are met concerning Health & Safety, fire regulations and all Disability Peterborough policies and procedures are adhered to.
• Use appropriate PPE and comply with Health and Safety and the Data Protection Act.
• Report all incidents, accidents and client concerns promptly to the Operations Manager
• Risk assess working environment as appropriate in line with overall Risk Assessment Policy and carry out work in line with AUKB’s Health & Safety policy
• Attend meetings and events relating to the project as required
• Commit to and undertake regular training sessions to extend and update own knowledge
• To manage and support volunteers, to achieve desired outcomes and high performance

• Implement adherence to the Health & Safety, information assurance, safeguarding policies and all other policies relevant to service delivery.
