Cambridge Safety was established in Peterborough in 1998 primarily to provide assistance to organisations in meeting their legal obligations with respect to health, safety and the environment. Through this work it has become apparent that, not only do organisations need competent technical assistance, but also need to give employees at all levels the skills to work safely and to prevent environmental harm. Cambridge Safety provides a wide range of cost effective training solutions with this aim in mind. Our focus is on providing easily accessible development opportunities which is why the majority of our course programmes are provided on a day-release basis to enable delegates to fit their development needs alongside their existing work commitments. All our courses are supported by lively enthusiastic presentations, quality handouts and relevant HSE publications. Our photos and video clips are used to demonstrate examples of both good and bad practice to delegates. Our pass rates for all course programmes exceed the national averages by far, so if you have the commitment, you are in safe hands! For those comapanies needing additional support we offer a range of tailored consultancy projects covering the range of health, safety, well-being and environmental issues. Including enivironmental and H&S management system development, audits, inspections, risk assessments and aspect assessments.

Ok lets consider Health and Safety in the times of the pharaohs. There is the issue of stone and silica from carving sarcophagos. The MH of the stone blocks for the pyramids. The bio hazards from mummification. The embalming chemicals. Make up an paint including arsenic and copper. Plus the possibility of being bitten by a deadly snake or asp. Chariot races at high speed. The use of metls with metal fumes to make their jewelery.
Its amazing they ruled for as long as they did.

The 8th of March is International Women’s Day – we wanted to take this opportunity to celebrate the ladies of Cambridge Safety.

Jackie : Once upon a time Health and Safety was seen very much as a male domain, I am pleased to say in the last few years this has definitely changed, with some of our H&S qualifications having more females than males. H&S is a unique role encompassing people skills, technical ability and the ability to listen and be prepared to change – multi skilling is an essential skill for all

Alice : It is great to see more women in health and safety roles and also more women in the classroom. Women in H&S can offer a different view and approach and I have seen this on many occasions in the classroom and out on site.

Helen : Since WWII there has been an ever increasing number of women in the workforce, and over the decades women have been entering job roles/industries previously only for men, so in turn Health and Safety also needs to progress and develop to ensure the needs of all workers are considered. Since I started at Cambridge Safety 13 years ago, it’s ben exciting to see the number of women attend our courses increase, and the number of women taking up senior H&S leadership roles.

Karen : As a newbie at Cambridge Safety, it has been for me a real education! Health & Safety awareness is an ever-increasing important issue not just for industries but for everybody whether at home, work, school, place of worship or even on holiday sites. For me I have been able to take back to my place of worship information I have picked up so far to make it a safer place for everyone, it is nice to be able to make a real difference.

10th of February is Safer Internet Day. Cyber security is integral to business health, safety, and integrity, as attacks can threaten job security, data, and operational continuity. Cyberattacks can disrupt critical systems (like building management or industrial controls), leading to physical risks, accidents, or failures that threaten people's lives.
