North West Anglia Pathology Services Pathology (also known as Laboratory Medicine) is the study of the nature of disease and its causes, development, processes and consequences.

Pathology is a key clinical service and around 70% of NHS diagnoses rely upon it. The Pathology facility at Peterborough City Hospital (PCH) is an integral part of the Cancer & Diagnostics Clinical Directorate. It houses some of the most up to date testing equipment within the United Kingdom, receiving around 1.5 million samples per year and performing 5 million tests in support of community heal

thcare and public health needs within Cambridgeshire and South Lincolnshire as well as hospital care at Peterborough and Stamford. The Pathology department is divided into a number of specialist departments:

Biochemistry and Immunology
Cellular Pathology (Cytology and Histopathology)
Haematology / Blood Transfusion
Microbiology
