In the run up to Christmas, Cherry Blossom Care Home residents have thoroughly enjoyed taking part in festive activities, with arts and crafts proving especially popular. This week, residents had the opportunity to make Christingles.

Christingles are oranges wrapped with red ribbon, decorated with dried fruit or sweets, and topped with a candle. Lighting a Christingle is intended to bring hope to those living in darkness and symbolises the birth of Christ and the light of the world. This meaningful tradition dates back to 1747 and was enjoyed by all who took part.

Cherry Blossom residents always appreciate the opportunity to showcase their creativity. Today, they were delighted to welcome visitors from British Sugar—Tracey, Olivier, and Ellie—who supported residents in creating festive Christmas tree biscuits. After enjoying a well-earned taste of their creations, residents also worked together to design beautiful Christmas tree table decorations. It was a thoroughly enjoyable and engaging visit for all involved.

The session included creative baking activities and time spent enjoying the home’s special Christmas lights, creating a joyful and heart-warming atmosphere that was appreciated by residents and visitors alike. At Cherry Blossom Care Home, residents enjoyed a lively and creative celebration of St Nicholas Day by making their own gingerbread men. Many residents have a long-standing love of baking, and this activity offered them the chance to revisit well-honed skills while engaging in something familiar and meaningful.

The session sparked wonderful memories, fostered a strong sense of purpose, and filled the home with warmth and laughter. And, most importantly, the gingerbread men turned out absolutely delicious.
